Another jogging stroller thread

Hi everyone! I'm new here and I have been looking through the threads, and learning a lot about health, fitness, exercise, food, etc.
I had 2 babies in 2 years, and they are now 3 and 1& 1/2. I used to be an avid runner, but over the last 3 years I have not had the time or the energy to keep up with it. But my boys are getting a little older now, and more patient about sitting in the jogging stroller while I go about my runs.
Like so many, I have tried to look online to get an idea for how many calories are burned while running with a jogging stroller. The best rule of thumb I could find is that it burns about 2-3 calories per minute... can anybody confirm that? I don't have a HRM, so I just thought I'd put it out there to see if anyone else can help.
Thank you!

There are a couple of approaches:
1 - Calculate the combined weight of the stroller and the kids, and add that to your weight when calculating calorie burns (ie if you're 60kg and the kids + stroller are 25kg together, then calculate a calorie burn at 85kg)
2 - Manually adjust based on an estimate of around 180 cal per hour (3cal / min)

Mapmyrun seems to estimate about 30 cal per mile per kid. So running alone I burn about 120 cal per mile. With the single jogger it's 150 cal per mile. And 180 cal per mile for the double jogger. That seems high to me for some reason so I usually knock about 20% off when I log it. But with the double jogger I'm pushing 100 pounds so maybe it's within the realm of possibility.

Interesting question, I've wondered this myself. I usually only add on about 10% calories to account for the child and stroller. Even though child plus stroller equals around 35 extra pounds in my case, I'm not actually pushing an extra 35 lbs since the stroller is doing most of the work for me.0
