Realistic Goals?

I have just started a new program for myself using Zumba on my Wii and a healthier diet. I want to lose weight and tone my belly area, but don't exactly what a good goal would be for me. I know my current BMI is obese, but don't want to lose too fast and gain back (again). I guess I am just looking for support in my goal and some friends out there to chat with about all this. I have friends with similar goals but they all seem to get mad at each other if they lose a pound or buy new jeans, and that is just not supportive for me and what I am trying to do .
Hugs to all that decide to take me in .

Hey there! My goals may be slightly different than yours but I would love to have a new friend on here who is also positive and looking for great change! (profile picture is me at my previous weight I reached while on here, and have gained back 30lbs...). Feel free to add me and also message me for support!0

You don't need to have a specific goal right now. You can just focus on eating better and moving more. See where it goes from there??0

A great goal would be to educate yourself about what kind of fitness level you want to attain and what it requires and what you need to do to get there.
Because your goals above are vague and use buzz words and Im not sure what you want so I cant tell you want to aim for other than education and more knowledge about what you really want!
Something tells me you dont just want to have a smaller number on the scale and what you actually want is to look better as well. Which is completely different from losing weight. Thats just reducing your gravitational pull and gives absolutely no guarantee about what you'll look like when you get there.0 -

Happy to say after almost 1 year I have lost 30 pounds and am starting to 'see' the progress on a day-to-day basis instead of my husband insisting to me I have lost. I've had ups and downs, but I think I have learned a lot about what works for me and I am loving the boost of energy I have in comparison to how I used to be . All thanks to honestly logging my food and becoming honest with myself about how much I need to get up and move.0 -

I LOVE Zumba!!! Since it's a Wii program, how about setting a date for yourself to reach to a specific difficulty level? Like, master the most advanced level of your most favorite song by December (or anything you're comfortable with but challenging enough)? It'll be a lot of fun & you'll be surprised how much you've actually done when you're ready to check your achievement!
(so the goal will be the difficulty level of the program, not particularly your body measurement)

I started this journey to lose weight and to get healthy, plus I am wanting to get rid of the belly fat around my tummy, minimize the look of my hips, and really just tone my body up. I'm not in this for any kind of contest, but I am okay with making friends along the way. I've lost 40 pounds so far, but I'm worried that my body is not cooperating anymore, like my lower & my upper belly area are not wanting to go away. It really is frustrating.0

I love this idea. Sometimes I get too caught up on my weight going up or down I need the distraction/goal. Setting goals within the program itself will keep it fresh. I already feel that I am starting to like the exercise and have found my niche that I can stick with long term. I would never have thought I would take to an exercise program as much as I have and that just makes me proud of myself if that makes any sense at all.0 -

I felt that way about my calves and thighs until I zipped up a pair of boots I had not worn for a while and instead of them being extremely tight I had a gap all the way around0
