I so want to do one of these and there is one coming to WI this year.
How much swimming is really involved? I suck @ swimming big time and dont plan on getting any better because being in the water does not really appeal to me.0 -
I'm doing the Maryland on on May 22. I'm just running and doing my normal lifting. I'm not trying to place though. I have a late heat so I may be a little tipsy when I go. :glasses:0

YES!!! Missed out on the two near me but signed up for Oct. 1 in VA! ONE WORD = SCARY :noway: !!! My husband and I are doing it and I think I convinced a few friends and family members. I'm doing interval and HIIT to train. Also building up my upper body workouts w/ more weights.0

I don't think you actually swim in any of them.. Just wade through muddy water.0 -
I have been looking at doing some of those or even doing a tough mudder. Best way to train from what I can tell is lots of cardio to help with endurance and strength training is a must as well otherwise the obstacles will seem impossible.
Here is a list of other mud runs throughout the country with links to their sites for ayone else interested in trying these.

The pictures are AFTER we cleaned up...you get much muddier!
As for training...its really not a hard race, mostly a fun race. if you can run 3 miles you'll be fine!0 -

Yeah, I'm doing the KC one!
I sort of figured I'd just do the usual but it's still nerve racking! Very exciting though. It's great to see so many other people excited about doing it. Looks like quite the experience. Has anyone done one before?0 -
I'm doing it in MN! I'm just doing the C25K program and hoping for the best.0

I'm doing a similar one in August. I've just been doing my normal kickboxing, running and lifting..concentrating a little more on upper body strength because I've heard you'll need a lot of it to pull yourself through some of the obstacles! Good Luck and most important have fun!!!!0

I just did the one here in tx 2 weeks ago, it is awesome and you will love it!! I just signed up to do the Jail Break one in September!! Im addicted lol
I just made sure I could run the 3 miles lol the obstacle course is pretty basic so if you already have a weight lift routine I wouldn't worry about it....0 -
I'm doing the one in KC to the day before, so excited0

I'm really excited! I signed up a few months ago for the Warrior Dash in Oregon for September.. I'm actually not that worried about the race at all, but I have started training for the Tough Mudder Competition. I want to complete that next year! Its between 10-12 miles long and basically the Warrior Dash on steriods! Sounds exciting.. Good luck in July..0

I'm doing the Michigan one on July 30th and am SO excited to be doing it with a group of my women friends.
I can already run the distance and my weight training is going well, so I'm ready to have a BLAST!
The pictures that are posted to FB are a hoot.
Yesterday's picture included a group of four guys who not only did the Warrior Dash, but did it while carrying their own keg on a stretcher over the whole course. Now THAT'S dedication to not having to wait in the beer line at the finish! LOL0 -
I have checked the W.D. site and it does state that actual swimming is not involved so I am jacked!
I was wondering how much climbing is involved though and more specifically how tall the structures or nets that you climb are? Has anyone done one and remembers? I ask because some of the people considering this are not great climbers when it comes to going high and coming back down. :happy:0 -
Me! They finally brought it to MA this year! It's part of my 30th birthday celebration week. Haha. The last day I'm 29, I will leap cars and crawl through mud!0

Look for YouTube videos. I've seen some blogs that describe and report on the course too. The walls look really short - it's not like you're hefting yourself over 7 foot wall or something. They're more like 3 ft.0
