Foot surgery slowing me down - any advice?

Hi all..... a full 7 months ago, I had a neuroma removed from my left foot, which also removed a portion of the nerve between my 3rd and 4th toes. I've been pretty successful in the past 6-8 weeks building up some walking without too much discomfort. However...... last week & weekend I REALLY overdid it, walking 3 miles on Wednesday, on my feet for 4 hours serving at a wedding (something I don't normally do), then going for a 30 minute hike with hubby on Sunday. I had scheduled another shorter walk yesterday after work (1.2 miles "around the block") but when I got home from work, my foot was past the throbbing stage and just plain HURT. I ended up on the couch, eating dinner and icing my foot - no exercise for me (which was bad, since I stacked many of my calories earlier in the day, anticipating a good workout in the evening).
Have any of you had the same surgery? And, if so - how was your recovery? I'll call my doctor later just to ask him for some advice, but I'd love to hear from others who may have had the same experience first.

I'd give it some healing time and speak to doctor. Ibuprofen and ice in the meantime0

I've not had that surgery, but I had 5 operations for cancer, and I can tell you it's sometimes 3 steps forward, 10 steps back. You overdid and now you must take at least a week off. That's disappointing I know, but unfortunately reality. I hope you get better.0

Speak to the doctor about recovery and activity.
Just wanted to note that I had different foot surgery (tendon transplant to fix nerve damage in my ankle) in July and had to be strictly non weight bearing for about 6 weeks. I got my workouts by hopping around behind crutches or a walking frame on the good foot. This is incredibly strenuous. According to my HRM, 15 minutes put my heart rate at 140 and burned about 250 kcal in a half hour. That is the same burn rate as my regular workout on the elliptical trainer.
BTW the MFP exercise entry for walking on crutches is pretty much spot on. I tested against my HRM. The entry was made by someone on my FL when she broke her ankle, and was calibrated to her HRM.0 -
Thank you for taking time to respond. I know, it can be silly because in my heart and in my mind, I knew what you would say..... sometimes it's just good to know that someone else can relate. 3 steps forward, 10 steps back. Isn't that the truth?
Pulling out the crutches again - not a bad idea, at all. Thanks! It really is a good workout hoofing it around on those things!
