So......
It's been said over and over if you have any "below the neck" symptoms (i.e. coughing, chest pain, etc.) you shouldn't exercise. My lovely fiance gave me this chest cold (which I am in week one of, and he is still coughing and hacking after almost three weeks)....BUT....
I am so. frickin'. hungry. MFP has set me up for 1200 cal/day. If I'm not supposed to partake in any exercise and I'm drinking almost a gallon of water a day, now what? I'm used to working out and being able to eat more than this!
Maybe I am hungry because I am sick my body wants food? I feel like all I'm doing is eating and sleeping. I am generally very active. I just joined the gym again (I don't run outside when it gets cold) and I was pumped to start a new workout program, but here I sit!
So, someone please tell me I can eat a little more and I can at least go jogging for 20 minutes and I will be happy. LOL
Thanks in advance guys!

1200 calories is not enough for the majority of people. Calculate average NEAT needs from places like exrx.net or health-calc.com and subtract 20% (~1lb/week, SUSTAINABLE) and you'll see that you're likely able to eat way more. This is without including exercise.
if you're hungry and don't change your goals to being more reasonable, then just.. eat. you won't get fat from one day of eating more than normal.0 -
If you are ill for gods sake nourish your body!
In my opinion i think you should eat at a maintenance calorie intake for that time so you neither loose or gain. Focus on restoring health then worry about loosing weight. Don't exercise - extra stress your body does not need.0 -

Okay so this helped me out a bunch. I could never figure out how I was supposed to subsist on 1200 - 1400 calories a day (my BMR depending on whose calculator you're using).
I just sort of assumed I needed to stay in that range. Sometimes this stuff confuses me, and being full of Sudafed isn't helping my comprehension level either. So thank you!0 -

If you're "so frickin hungry," eat something!
Learning to listen to your body's hunger cues and eat appropriate amounts of food...it's a wonderful thing. With any luck, we will all get there one day!
Your body uses extra energy to fight infection, so give it some extra fuel. And don't skimp on water.
Feel better!

No problem! And to be honest, MFP does a crap job of actually ensuring new members know what htey are going into. No explanation of the method (NEAT) used here, no explanation of the minimum that should be eaten, etc. You're not the only person who has been confused about these things, and I do think it's partially due to MFP not providing enough information upon signing up.0 -
Give that poor body some fuel so it can heal itself!0
