Crap Food Cravings!

For the last several days I have been craving Chik Fil A. I have had MAYBE 10 servings of meat (aside from fish) over the last three months in an attempt to be proactive about heart disease.

Yesterday, I gave into that craving, and not only had a sandwich but the fries and soda with it. I was so sick ALL...DAY...LONG! I didn't want dinner, but managed to eat something light, and went to bed feeling like I had consumed an entire cow.

It's almost like my body is saying, "WTG inner fatty...look what you did to us?" While the wanna-be-skinny girl is saying, "I'll have a salad."

Much better choices to be made today and the rest of the week. My body can handle cheat days...but Chik Fil A days? Not so much.

Sounds like you're developing an unhealthy relationship with food. I had 3 slices of pizza and 6 pieces of cookie cake last Friday and the inner me was like "YEEEESSSSS."

You body can handle it just fine, it's your mind that you're having problems with.

Chik-Fil-A has grilled chicken nuggets now. They're pretty good. I love me some Chik-Fil-A. Also pizza and ice cream. :yum:

I don't feel like I have an unhealthy relationship with food? I have cheat days/special treats when I've earned them...yesterday was just an exception. I had been wanting the chicken sandwich for days, so I gave in to temptation...then paid for it. My stomach was so upset and angry! I don't really see how that's my mind and not body?

I'm lost. What's wrong with chicken?

Nothing is wrong with chicken...It was all the grease from the fries and the FRIED chicken.

We don't eat fast food often anymore and these days if we do dh or I will almost always have an upset system after. It isn't that we don't eat meat or french fries at home but fast food has a special mixture of grease, salt and who knows what else that just hits us because we aren't used to it anymore.

After you begin eating healthy, the junk food will hit your body and make you feel uggy. For sure. I was surprised to learn that it was true when it happened to me. I always thought people who said that were *kitten*, lol. They're not lying! You really DO feel better when you eat healthy food!

Lean, white meat is okay on a heart-healthy diet. It isn't necessary! But it's okay to have some baked chicken now and then!!

If you go meatless, be sure to have your B-12 checked at your next physical and visit some vegetarian sites to learn about different proteins, :)

Last time I went to Rita's I ended up spending most of the evening in the restroom with massive diarrhea.

    Still was worth it.

Thanks Kalikel! We follow the pescatarian way...fish, dairy and eggs are OK, but land living animals we avoid for the most part. Once a month we will have chicken or turkey (usually prepared at home), and it's OH SO GOOD when we do have it! My horrible feeling yesterday was my own doing, I should have gone grilled, but that's not what I was craving! LOL!

No more. I'm not saying NO to fast food overall, but the deep fried stuff is likely a thing of my past....for the most part :)

I'm upset that you would classify the yumminess of Chick fil A as "crap" food.

Chick filA *is* crap food, yes. You're right there.

Second, you say you're not avoiding meat, just grease, then say you are avoiding meat. You aren't avoiding chicken, but avoiding "land living" animals". I'm confused.
Why are you avoiding "land living animals"? Because of heart disease? Hasn't that been debunked by now?

    Bake chicken nuggets. Problem solved.

Back to chick fil A. Are you sure this is going to work for you as a "lifestyle"?

400 calories, 41 grams of protein, 15 grams of carbs, and 19 grams of fat for a 12 count of nuggets. Sounds like pretty good macros to me.

Well, I do consider Chick fil A as "crap" food since their food is bland or overseasoned, you get black and white in american fast food.

    Pollo Campero. That is yummy.

I worked at Chik-Fil-A when I was in college. The chicken is actual raw chicken, the same kind I currently get at the grocery store.

I think it's important to not label foods as "good", "bad" or "crap". It's all just... food. How it's prepared/cooked etc is a different issue (calories and preference, etc), but all foods in moderation are just fine... avoiding foods (unless moral or health reasons), in my opinion, lead to an unhealthy relationship with food.

I personally have only had Chik-Fil-A like twice ever in my life, but that's only because I don't have one close by. But I definitely partake in fast food and won't avoid it. Today I had a Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich, french fries and a diet coke. It was tasty and fit in my calories.

I think it's fine to label food as good for you and bad for you and "junk food". I don't think it leads to "an unhealthy relationship with food". I think "unhealthy relationships with food" are much much more complicated than the use of a few adjectives.

That was so true in my case over and over. I wound up cutting the carbs and upping the fat. Fried chicken is fine but no bread or other carbs like fries and only water to drink.

I can not play with carbs and come out winner so I took my marbles home and play with carbs no longer. I told myself I was going to die a horrible death if I did not clean up my act since I am 63.

You are so young and have so much to gain and nothing to lose by losing sugar/carbs NOW. Best of luck.
