OP if you budget the candy into your daily routine then it doesn't effect you as much as you think it does.

    It's called moderation ;)

Still going to enjoy the candy.

    I. LOVE. HALLOWEEN. I love it! I never, ever, ever, ever buy candy bars. EVER. So this is such a fun holiday for me. I love having a day of Twix and Kitkats and Milkyway Midnights (favorite!). My goal (not always reached) is to not binge and after the 31st whatever is left to fit them into my day.

Yes...it did make me 'think twice'...actually more than twice because now all I think about is having a bowl full of Peanut Butter Cups! LOL

Kudos to the OP for letting most of us know how much we need to work out if we can't just stop at one or have enough of a calorie deficit left (if consistent weight loss is your ultimate goal) to fit in the yummy candies!

I've consistently lost weight... 115 lbs to be exact and I've never followed a chart on how to punish myself for having a candy bar. I eat it, log it and if it fits into my day even better. One day didn't make me fat, and one day isn't going to derail my progress.

Is it really worth the calories?

OP-- yes, those calories were definitely worth it. A couple of weekends have passed and I recall eating 2 Hershey chocolate bars(the minnies) during a half marathon run(I ran part 2 of a relay so a short 6.55 miles). I was provided the minnies DURING the run those-- evil people handing out candy! Maybe it had something to do with the location of the race. . . . .Hershey PA, maybe not. Either way, the chart is awesome. Can you provide one for Thanksgiving? Many thanks.

I just got a Mars and a Crispy Crunch and they aren't on your chart -- are they free? ;):D

I don't see Caramilk on the list, so it must be 0 calories. Which is great, cause I already ate some ^_^

I totally agree. I was just trying to give a positive spin to a topic that was otherwise drawing a lot of flak from people. Giving the OP the benefit of the doubt, I think she just wanted us to think twice before over-indulging in candy. After all, anything in excess is detrimental. But you're right. One day won't derail anyone's progress or make you fat, because candy and chocolates for Halloween? Not going to make anyone sad, that's for sure. :)
  • Is it hijacking to complain that Tootsie Roll Pop bags now include BANANA? Why?!?! Why did they take away blueberry, cherry, strawberry, and chocolate tootsie pops to make room for banana? Will the person who likes the banana please set up so you and I can have words?

This is going to have zero effect on how much Halloween candy I eat.

Yes, just budget it in and you don't even have to do all that exercise.

If your point is eating candy every day fits into your meal plans then I see nothing wrong with it other than the possible health issues it may (yes I said MAY not WILL) cause you down the line just like the health issues eating at McDonalds, Wendys, etc, etc that I did caused me although I did lose 100 pounds eating at those places. Ultimately although I lost weight it taught me how to eat wrong and bad stuff so it was a setback.

Since I am not in your group "won't set us back" I'll just say sorry I'm funny for responding to someone trolling the forum and I do in all honesty wish you well.

    This is just silly.
Unless you have a medical condition or an allergy you will not get any health issues from eating a small amount of candy every day, like a chocolate frog after dinner or similar.

    You sure about that?

I like the first part where it tells you the calories/bar, but I can figure what to do from there.

If you're going to eat candy, how about elevating your tastes to dark chocolate or something of better quality instead of that kids stuff.

Unless you have a medical reason to avoid sugar, it doesn't matter

Yes this. I eat sugar daily, and plenty of it, I'm sure (I don't count sugars). I work in a bakery. If anyone is really so concerned about sugar, just limit it. There's always a way to make treats fit into daily eating.

For just about every day this month I've set aside calories for candy corn, because candy corn... and I regret none of it. I also intend to eat more tonight B) So yes, it is absolutely worth it to me!
