How to find the correct nutrients for my own personal diet

I am wanting to improve my diet, but so many places give very general guides or base your diet purely off of calories. I find calories to be a very unimportant look at a diet and am looking to find the correct nutrient balance for my personal diet.
Does anyone know how you find out the correct balance of nutrients for their own body? Or is this something that would require seeing a nutritionist?

It'll be largely based on your personal goals/lifestyle + how you feel at certain nutrient levels, which makes me think there will be an awful lot of trial and error involved.
A nutritionist might be able help with a starting point, but ultimately you'll have to see what's optimal for you.0 -
It mostly depends on your goals, build muscle 50% carbs 30% protein 20% fat maintain weight 40% carbs 40% protein 20% fat lose weight 50% protein 30% carbs 20% fat. But I do have to say that calories are extremely important. While the nutrients matter tremendously the bottom line is if you eat a surplus of calories youll gain weight, if you eat at a deficit youll lose weight0
