Weight loss / no muscle gain gym machines?

i recently got a trial of a gym membership for 2 weeks and i am looking to see if this is something i like. my goal is to lose weight.
I would like to know what machines i should avoid or go to if i am looking to get skinny / slim down but not gain big muscles ( or get on the way to it) i think i would be fine with upper body but i want to particularly avoid leg muscles as they are the main area i want skinny.
bare with me because i have no experience / prior knowledge to this, and that is why I'm here.
if it helps i am a 6ft 170 lb male
goal of 150 or less

If you're eating at a deficit to lose weight nothing you do will give you big muscles. But lifting heavy at a deficit can help preserve lean body mass and aid weight loss. Supplement it with cardio if you want.

I would really suggest staying away from the machines in general, They arent very good for getting in shape free weights are MUCH more effective. But like stated above you will not get big if you are eating at a deficit. But if you are 6ft 170 you shouldnt have that much to lose.(those are my current stats)

Don't worry. no one has ever accidentally got big muscles.

For realz. That's just a silly thought. Work out, eat at a deficit, no muscle mass gained.

gotta watch out for that accidental hypertrophy. I once had a friend who did 3 sets of 12 on a cable machine, and when he woke up 8 hours later, he somehow had an IFBB pro card.

The treadmill is the machine you're looking for.

OP ... please explain what you think an exercise machine will do to your body while you eat at a deficit. It's easier to fix misconceptions when not having to address all of them at once.

First of all, you're going to "get skinny" in the kitchen, not the gym. Secondly, it takes an extreme amount of work to "get muscles" and with the exception of newbie gains, you will NOT build any in a deficit. Lifting weights will help you to avoid skinny fat, while losing.
