Stalled out

When I started here on MFP I was consistantly 200-300 below my daily goal and I was losing an average of 1.5 lbs a week. Now that I am nearly 25 lbs down and over half way to my goal I have been eating close to my goal (usually < 100 under), and my weight loss has slowed to under 0.5 lbs a week.

Should I cut back my calories to the 200-300 daily deficit that was working previously? Or should I increase my calories 100-200 like is usually recommended to break a platau?

I would try increasing/changing your activity before you start cutting calories. Maybe your body has gotten used to whatever routine you are doing and its time to shake things up a bit.

I would also increase those calories at least for a week or two and see what happens. Good luck!

Years ago - when I first started this weight battle, I could drop 5-7 pounds a week. Eventually I got to a point where I was disappointed if I only lost 3-4 pounds a week, but then I had someone tell me that losing in smaller increments is more sustainable. Now, I'm love to lose even a pound in a week. The less weight you have to lose, the harder it is to lose it. I agree with dd_salas - try shaking up your workouts a bit. The last thing you want to do is send your body into starvation mode by cutting calories. You'll screw up your whole metabolism.
