New to MFP...even gave up alcohol!

Hi everyone! Ok, so I am NOT new to the weight loss process. I've tried. And tried. And tried.
Why is it so EASY to put weight on, and so dang HARD to get it to come off?
I've been tracking for a few days. My calorie allowance is generous, but it's still down to the wire every day! I need to work on my carb and sodium intake. I LOVE my chardonnay, but I've given it up for the sake of my health, my weight, my happiness, and my hope of getting pregnant! My husband and I have been trying to conceive our first child for 14 months with no luck.
I am really excited and optimistic about this journey, I just hope I can keep the momentum going! I would love any advice or tips regarding how to make working out more bearable (I get so bored after 10 minutes on a machine!) and also any easy/tasty ideas for fresh, low carb lunches and dinners!
Let's do this!

I've given up alcohol too! But mostly just because I'm not 21 yet and I'm trying to avoid getting busted lol. But it works out because I'm using it as an opportunity to lose a lot of weight. I love your excitement! I also get really bored on machines which is why I usually will play high intensity sports instead. Maybe you and your hubby could play some two on two basketball for an hour? Another way I avoid the boredom is switch machines...20 minutes on the treadmill then 30 minutes on the elliptical. Some machines even have games in my gym. With the row machine (you sit on a bench and pull a bar towards your chest repeatedly) they have a shark game where you have to eat fish and not get eaten by sharks lol. Pretty entertaining.0

Oh I'll have to check out that rowing machine!! And thanks for the basketball idea! Giving up drinking is hard for me...a couple glasses of wine really helps me unwind after a long day!0

I gave up various things, including alcohol, because I have exercised little control when I partake. If I drink a few adult beverages, I start eating anything I can get my hands on.
It's not the food or drink that is bad; it's me.
Moderation with certain items is just not happening, so they're cut out of my diet totally.0 -
You are my hero!!! I cannot give it up. I've tried, but I love my Apothic Red way too much. I'm ashamed. That said, I try to log it when I drink it, and try to stay within my calorie goals as well. Some days are harder than others...
Now on to more ideas for working out. I'm a fitness instructor, and personally I hate working out in the gym on a machine by myself. I love the group fitness atmosphere, and if you can connect with an instructor, then it just works!! I teach spinning, step aerobics and a weight lifting class. I also partake as a participant a boot camp class during lunch, and I used to do crossfit. It's just so much more fun when you're together with a bunch of crazy people (me being one of them) and grooving it to fun music all while burning calories. Have you ever thought about taking a group fitness class??0
