Hi there, Im new to MFP and while logging my details, I noticed it gave me a ratio of 50/20/30,
Carbs/Protein/Fat. That's just insane, no?
I've changed the ratio to 40/40/20, Carbs/Protein/Fat. So is this any good and what would you guys recommend?

5% Carbs, 30% Protein, 65% Fat.
Although most on here will tell you "Iaghari, love, it doesn't matter what you stick in your mouth, your macros could be 40% Cookies 40% MacDonalds and 20% Pizza as long as you're under your calorie limit your results will be the same".
Don't listen to them, they're full of it.
Current research tells us though that fat is not the enemy, quite the opposite. And dietary fat does not = fat on your body. Carbs = fat on your body due to the process of insulin production and carb breakdown.
But don't listen to me, I've only lost 60lbs in 6 months, and developed some nice muscle definition where previously I had none.0 -

Just wanted to point out the bold section for good advice.0 -
I personally have had the best results at 40% protein, 30% carbs and 30% fat, although I do tend to go over on fat often lol. That seems to work best for me and it's usually what I recommend to start, but everybody is different and it does depend on the quality of your foods and the workouts you're doing and also eating enough. But I always start people there and then tweak it based on their results AND how they feel. I'm a big fan of moderation. I lost my 70lb in 1987 and have kept it off and my metabolism is on fire at age 42 so I've been doing this a while lol. Good luck!0
