Don't need before or after if you're getting in enough protein in your daily allowance.

You'll want to drink it after the workout when your muscles are starving. Protein helps to recover and build muscle.

You don't have to drink protein shakes anytime. They should just be used to supplement your daily protein intake. It would be more beneficial to drink it afterwards. Ideally, you would have a meal sometime before your workout as well containing some protein. Don't stress about minute things like this. Hit your daily calories and macronutrients according to your goals.

If I am hungry and in a hurry before the gym, I will.

No reason to feel the need to get protein in right before or right after a workout. Just get it in during the day, and you'll be fine.

Muscles don't recover and build directly after workout. They build on the day after. While there is an "optimum" window of opportunity for protein and carb intake after workout, it does little to affect the average person trying to lose weight.

@2:30 - You need a small meal with 20-30 grams of protein every 2-3 hours?

    Yikes. This guy's nuts.

I usually have toast with PB and some coffee before my workouts.
A shake would make me too full and my stomach would certainly rebel.

One doesn't need to eat every 2-3 hours. Nor have 30 grams of protein with each meal.
Of course if one believes in broscience, then a lot of what Scooby says will be legit.

Drinking it after for "starving" muscles is pure broscience. Supplement your protein intake as necessary when it feels appropriate. I usually have one at some point during the evening on heavy lifting days.

Thiiiiiiiiiiiis. Personally, I eat gelato after my workout, but that's besides the point.
