Ok, every time I do cardio my nose runs. Does this happen to anybody else or am I just weird?? I know it's not a serious problem, but it's super annoying. Don't laugh!

It happens to me during my spin class at times. Another benefit of spinning, cleans out the sinuses!

It happens to me, too. It decreases as my body gets more used to the exercise, but it takes a couple weeks.

I try to think of it as the fat leaving my body in unusual ways. :-)
  • Oh...good! I'm not the only one! lol

I have never ever heard anybody ever mention this happening to them before. Thanks :)

Mine does that after a year and a half in the gym and 90 lbs lost, my nose still runs. I just keep my towel with me and wipe away.

I feel your pain! My trainer said its just everything is flowing: circulation, water in your body... So, it's just obnoxious!

It happens to me too if I haven't taken my allergy medication. Sometimes even happens if I have if the pollen is really bad!

If you only have it happen indoors, like at your gym, you may have a mildew allergy. Gyms are always damp and they all have a ton of mildew.

If it only happens outside, you probably have an allergy to some type of pollen or grasses.

If it only happens at home, it's probably an allergy to dust mites or perhpas a pet.

Some folks are just lucky like me and are allergic to all of those things! LOL

Mine only runs when I ride my bike at 630am in the cold but when it does it's like a tap! So annoying!

Yeah-I get that too sometimes. More when I go from one temp to another though. When I first go outside on a cold day, my nose runs. And it runs again when I come back in to the warm house. Seems to be the temperature shift. Never have figured that one out!

You could be on to something. I've noticed it's only really started happening the last week or so as it's getting colder in the Mornings (I'm in Australia and we're heading into winter)

It's a pain because it interfers with my breathing when I exercise.

I've found that a good blow into a tissue while exercising helps clear up my stuffy nose and makes heavy breathing easier. The only problem is that most times I ride I forget to bring tissues!
  • happens to me running all the time. weather makes it run more or less than normal (dry = less, raining or cold = more) but yeah pretty much every time.

If it happens more when you're in damp environments, you may have an allergy to molds (including mildew).

And here I thought I was just a freak! Mine ALWAYS runs when I am running. Treadmill, outside, doesn't matter. And I have *never* had allergy problems.

You can have this problem simply due to a big increase in circulation. There are definitely folks who have this reaction with no allergies.

But you can also get it if you're allergic. Sometimes the act of breathing deeply will bring more airborne allergens into your system and you'll see a reaction to things that normally do not bother you when breathing normally.

I don't have allergies, and this happens to me too. It must be the increase in circulation. I've been taking a group personal training class and one of the girls keeps a WHOLE BOX of kleenx in her bag for everyone! It's super annoying when you're doing deadlifts or bending over!

It happens to me on occasion. Not every time but it seems to happen when I start a new workout routine. That and it seems like one ear will need to pop. So weird, lol

Happens to me everytime!!!! It is annoying and frustrateing along with just plain gross, but I would rather deal with that during a workout then have all this extra weight on me. I think its a sign that we are working hard enough, the way I see it if my nose isn't running I'm not working hard enough!!!! LOL ;-)
  • Thank you folks! It's good to know that I'm not alone. I will embrace the boog! I will take it as a sign that I'm working hard! It ain't pretty but so be it!! lol

Mine does all the time at the gym to one degree or another depending on cold and allergy seasons. I keep tissues in each pocket, in my bra strap, in my gym bag. I also keep a small container of hand sanitizer with me that I use between each machine and I make extra sure I wipe down the equipment when I'm finished. It may be gross, but I don't have to be.
