How to Get Back on Track

Hi everyone,

I recently signed up for MFP and plan on using it more regularly. For the past few days i've been having trouble controlling myself around sweets. We held a party on the weekend and some people brought some chocolate and whatnot and i ended up binging. I can't get myself to master the "everything in moderation" concept, it just doesn't work for me. At least not right now. I normally don't keep those things around the house but in this case i couldn't control that. I acknowledged that what's done is done and now i have to pick myself up and maybe go on a sugar detox? or something. I never craved sweets initially when starting my diet. After a while, like a few months later i started to revert back to eating them. Idk, I was wondering if any of you had some advise on the matter, i would really, really appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Also, do any of you have any ideas for quick weight loss? like within a week or so, any tips or techniques? Thank you

  • I have the same problem! I love sweets, especially chocolate. I also work at Starbucks, so I'm constantly surrounded by sugary treats and drinks. What I've been telling myself recently is that if I can't take the time to sit down, and enjoy the treat, then it's not worth it, and when I do actually take the time to enjoy it it'll taste a million times better!

Being at a party specifically, I usually try to distract myself by talking to people; trying to eat a plate of food, a cookie, or anything, while holding a conversation, never works out for me-- when you're talking and hanging out with people you're too busy for food!

Finally, I've found that citrus fruits really help curb my sweet tooth. For a while whenever I wanted something sweet, I just ate fruit. It sucked for about a week, because all I wanted was a chocolate bar, but after that I enjoyed the fruit more, and the processed sweets began to taste like plastic (ew!), so then I stayed away from them.

Getting your body away from sugar takes some time, but I promise it's totally worth it! I've recently needed to go on a processed-sugar detox myself, and I've been loading up on the fruits!

You need to surround yourself with people who are doing this successfully. Feel free to add me for support.
  • I love sweets too... EVERY night around 9 after I am already sleepy and it is an awful habit! I also will support you if you can also support me! :)

There are no "quick" weight loss techniques. I make sure that I make room in my allotment for a daily treat, this way I don't feel I am going without, but if you don't feel you can do that, then just abstain.
