Snacks good versus bad? need Help

Hello Everyone. I just started MFP 2 days ago but have been attempting this weight loss for some time. I have found that I don't get that hunger feeling until late afternoon (when the kids get home from school and want their snack) Needless to say I figure that one of my back draws is that since idont eat all day I tend to binge eat later at night. So I'm wondering if anybody has any ideas for snacks or even small meals that are simple and help in aiding weight loss.or if there are some snacks (fruits, veggies, yogurt, etc) that are better than others. Any help helps and thank you all for helping :-)

any snack that fits in your calorie goal and keeps you from eating too much later is good. Peanut butter on celery is always a favorite of mine. Fat is good helps you feel full longer.

I like the FiberOne brownies ... only 90 calories, but they work well for hunger pangs. Baby carrots, celery and apples for snacks help me too.

I also purchased a quesadilla maker from Target. It takes less than 10 minutes to prep & cook (cook time is 5 minutes), and I am able to add things like grilled chicken, veggies, low fat cheese, etc. Just one keeps me full, and the ingredients are pretty cheap. My kids love them, and we work on different combinations so it never gets boring. I hope that helps. :)

My first question would be why don't you eat all day.

The best thing I can offer is that you have a look at what your body needs to be healthy and strong. Have you researched how much protein, vitamins, minerals, water etc. your body needs to function well? Are you deficient in any? Are you overloading on any that are detrimental (ie sugar)?

Once you do this research, finding good snacks and meals is much easier. Just find foods that fit the nutritional requirements of your body.

I use mfp to track the nutrients I am providing for my body. A very nice by-product of that is weight loss.

Get to know your body and what it needs.

    Good luck on your journey.

I don't ever feel hungry early in the day. I do tend to drink ALOT of coffee which I think is a huge part of why I don't get that hunger all day. I've cut down my coffee intake to about a pot (12 cups) a day with my last cup being about 2 pm. And I don't that hunger until I start cooking for the children and soon to be husband.

I never used to eat breakfast and it was to my detriment. It is something you have to train your body to do.

Make small changes at a time. Don't try to do it all at once. Having a plan is the best first step. Find out what you are supposed to be giving your body first. Then start working towards that.

IMHO, making lifestyle changes is priority. Your body is the foundation for being able to function in your life.

    Small steps = great distance.

Rest assured it gets easier and feels great!

Thank you for that... I'm in the mindset like most beginners where I want changes now but I'm trying to get myself to realize its better to do the healthy route and a little at a time. Again thank you your comment helped :-) :-) :-)

    No problem.

You are right about the mindset of many beginners. The focus is on loosing ___ lbs as quickly as possible. That rarely works in the long term. Lifestyle changes stick and have the greatest impact on your body's ability to become strong and vital. There are just as many skinny, unhealthy people out there as overweight, unhealthy.

Feel free to add me as a friend if you want to, I am always happy to help where I can.
