Why does exercising make me LESS hungry?

Options
It's sort of counter-intuitive.

On mornings when I get a workout in, I find I'm usually not hungry until much later in the morning.

On mornings when I basically roll out of bed and hit the morning routine and end up at work, my stomach is all GNARR GNARR FEED ME, SEYMOUR!

What gives? It seems like my body should be asking for food to replace the just-expended energy, but it's back-asswards instead.

Anyone else?

Your stomach shuts down because the blood is redirected to your muscles. You should eat some protein after exercising regardless.

Honestly? I don't ask why, I'm just thankful.

I did read something about exercise releasing chemicals into your body that delay hunger.

    Cardio makes me less hungry.

Lifting makes me want to eat 57 steaks a day.

Possibly because of increase in dopamine, leading to feelings of bliss?

    LOL!

I start at 57. I guess it would go to 114.

    Yeah, I'm talking cardio btw.

I'm skeptical of the blood flow thing, though. I believe the stomach takes its cues from the brain, and not the other way around.

    You're lucky.

My long runs make me ravenous. It's harder for me to stay under maintenance when I burn 1800 cals on a 12 mile run than on days where I don't work out at all.

Yup! I've always wondered why this happens. When I lift, I'm ravenous all day but cardio curbs my appetite.
