Hello everyone,
today I was totally amazed by MFP's information about calories usage per hour during drumming! I've been playing drums for about 5 years now but i didn't know that it can help somehow to lose calories. I don't feel very tired after my practice routine, so it was a huge surprise :-/
But anyway, I'm a little bit sceptic about all that. Is it really worth to include my drumming into MFP account?

I have been trying to play guitar for 15+ years gave it up for 8-9 and just started back a few month back, too bad you can't burn that much playing guitar...lol0

My hunny is a drummer, he sweats his bootie off when he drums of course it burns calories0

If you get really into it, then yes. Have you seen the new video on youtube of Dream Theater's new drummer Mike Mangini? He's wiping his face with huge towels to get the sweat off. Of course, if you're just playing a snare or something little, then its different.
But bang it out, and have fun!0 -
It is definitely something to include in your diary because I looked and for me, at my weight, I would burn 372 calories per hour......and I probably should be practicing on my electronic set because I'm just a baby in the drums, but many years on the piano......when I get around to play music, I'll add that to my regimen again........0

Thank you all for answers :-)
MFp says that I'll burn 268 calories per hour of drumming.
I usually practice at home on electronic drums - play exercises and play-alongs. Not really hard, but straight, for improving technique and stamina. I'm looking for a band now, so I have to forget about gigs for a some time :-))
And yep, Mike Mangini is awesome!!
I found a funny message in another forum from another drummer:
vinniewannabe says:
976 Calories per set. 4 sets = 3904 calories per show. 4 shirts, two sets under-drawers, two pairs of jeans, and a small gym bag of various sizes/colors of wrist and head sweatbands.
