Putting my hamster on the Atkins diet

I am trying to put my hamster on the Atkins diet because he is a little chubby and I want the little guy to live a long 2-3 years like his ancestors did.
I know I should be cutting out all hamster food with carbohydrates in it, but I'm kinda stuck. I've been trying to research what the Atkins albino hamsters ate, but I'm not finding anything. If you can find any information on this, I would be surprised.

    You should probably just feed him straight bugs as they are a great source of lean protein. I now have all my goldfish on a paleo diet of strictly bacon and they're doing great. Best of luck to you and your albino hamster!

    It's not a diet it's a lifestyle change. If he won't eat that way for the rest of his life then he shouldn't do it at all.
