... lost 11 lbs. since Day 90 ... the honeymoon is over, but still losing at a nice rate

Day 0 to Day 120
  • BMI: 41.6 to 32.3
  • WEIGHT: 298 to 232
  • WALKING: 204 miles
  • DIABETES HbA1C: 9.5 to 5.6
  • PANTS: 46 to 40
  • SHIRTS: 3XL to XL
  • WAIST: 51" to 44"
  • HEARTrest: 85-90 to 58-62


My plan:
  • Logging my food every day in MyFitnessPal
  • Calories 1700, tuned to lose 1.5 lbs. a week
  • Walking 3x a week for 30 minutes min.
  • Support via family, friends, and TOPS

    The biggest practical difference happened more than 60 days ago. I was forced to quit all diabetes medication -- 3 shots of insulin plus 5 pills. I quit them because they were causing me to have hypoglycemia -- or, in other words: my diabetes was fully controlled with diet and exercise.

    Yes, I love that my clothes fit better, too. But the headline is the diabetes being controlled.

    About 8-12 8 oz. glasses worth, nothing special. (I am a diet soda drinker, probably more than most.)

    I lost my mother when she was only 52 from complications of diabetes. My sister is already very ill, most of my aunts and uncles die from diabetes/congestive heart failure. I don't have it, but avoiding this is one of my motivations for losing. Your story just goes to show how avoidable this disease really is. Btw, you carry your current weight well in the pictures. I would have thought you had lost even more. Thanks for posting.
