8.5lbs on in a fortnight??

I've managed to gain 8.5lbs in 2 weeks!!!
I'm sticking to no more than 1400 cals a day, i eat fruit/veg/meat/fish/quorn/dairy and rarely eat anything processed.
I have recently started to do Insanity, day 8 today. So I know the glycogen stores might be up but not by this much.
I'm genuinely panicking about the gain (7lbs last week and 1.5lbs this week).
I feel and look bigger so it's not just a scales issue.
What on earth am I doing wrong because it's making me miserable.
I have a history of eating disorders in my world so gains affect me more than most....
Any advice would be appreciated

You are eating more than you think.0

It's probably mostly water. Try limiting sodium to a reasonable amount and drinking more water.0

I gained 7lbs on Sunday after a pigout fest and I was back down to up one pound by today. Give it a few more weeks. If you don't start losing, rethink your calorie goal. And make sure you are logging accurately and not overestimating calorie burns.0

You are most likely eating more than you think. Do you weigh and measure everything?
Also, water retention is common with a new exercise schedule.

I weigh and measure everything within an inch of its life, trust me, I'm tracking every single calorie that passes my lips and I never eat my exercise calories so no over estimating worries there.
I don't put out either. I don't eat chocolate or sweets, I don't eat cake or biscuits either. I haven't eaten crisps all year.0 -
You should go to the doctor if this keeps up. Just to make sure that everything is on the up and up, health wise.0

Open your diary?0

I'm hoping there's a cultural difference in this phrase. My guess is to keep at it. If you just started working out cortisol levels go up and added with your stressing out about it, it can easily cause weight gain (nevermind hormone levels depending on your monthly cycle). My doctor actually recommended that I not workout when I first started trying to lose because it is so common for people to gain when they first start, and then they give up before really even trying because they're so frustrated. Give it some more time and be patient.0 -
Ha ha I don't know what I was trying to say there either but that's not what I meant! Lol
I've been dieting and exercising for months so not sure why I'm not struggling so much and gaining so rapidly0 -
29000 calories more than she thinks? It might be an issue but Id go with retained water. Or dodgy floor the scales balance on? Either way Id give it another fortnight0

Part 1 is flipping funny
Part 2 you don't have to give up anything to lose, just be at a deficit.
Lastly, it could be water retention from TOM and increased exercise, in which case it should be gone in a couple of days.0 -

Haha I wish I could add that to my tracker but I can't lol

Lemme speak personally here when I say that exercise causes weight gain for awhile. This is because when you're sore (and I promise you insanity will do that) you'll retain water as your bodies way to deal with things. You're busting your a... doing these workouts I assume, lots of stress on the body. Ignore the scale. Hell ignore the measuring too.
It's not uncommon for me to gain 3-5lbs in A DAY after walking 4 miles, which is not stressful exercise. My legs hurt like hell the next day and if I measure are bigger. 2-3 days later if I'm not exercising, guess what, they go down and then I've lost all that water weight and then some.0 -
When I started insanity about two years ago I noticed I gained the first two weeks on the scale even though I was under my caloric goals, but my clothes were starting to fit better. By the end of the first month on the program I did end up losing. Like others have said it might just be water weight in your muscles and natural fluctuations.0

Relax ... Eating at a deficit = Fat Loss. That's physics. It cannot not happen. So your body is gaining something other than fat. Your body is responding to Insanity, most likely. That's going to be water retained to repair muscles and held in response to cortisol. Drink lots of water and relax. Fat loss is happening. It cannot not happen.0

Chances are you went anabolic for a while. When you switch from losing weight to gaining weight a number of things happen. The muscles store more glycogen and thus more water and your body generally starts retaining weight. It is not uncommon to see a sudden gain in weight when coming off a diet even if you do it sensibly. The same thing happens the other way around when you go into a deficit.0

You're all excellent. I shall keep going and hope for losses in a few weeks. I feel lumpier/bigger which bothers me0
