I ended up straining my groin and its now feeling good (no pain). It was minor, if I stayed off it it was fine all week. However I am a carpenter and it flared up occasionally throughout the work week. I rested Saturday (yesterday). Now I feel like hitting the gym, but not sure If shouldn't let it rest a bit. Soo....

My question is how long before I should push to make sure its fully healed?

Looking specifically to get back in training to run a 5K, I could walk but I find it boring.

It may take some time . Sometimes 4-6 weeks :(
Resting it , using medications such as aleve or motrin can help it heal.
Listen to your body when it flares up and do low impact exercises for the next couple weeks. I have learned the hard way about pushing injured muscles that were not ready for me.

    Good luck

If you didn't want to hear that ballpark figure, then see your doctor and get something with a little more precision owing to a physical exam.

Or, chill until you feel completely fine.
  • usually 2 - 3 weeks but and with nil stress on it. I used to always get it at the start of the sports season, now plenty of stretching beforehand. have to look at the bigger picture really
