For those with a mountain to climb.......

I hit a 60lb loss today with at least another 73 to go just to get to "overweight" but I realised something. Even if I stop now and maintain what I have lost I have come such a long way. I shop in normal shops, I can walk so much further than ever before and 5 minutes in a gym no longer leaves me gasping for breath and resembling a pumpkin with sunburn. Even if stay at 241lb, it's better than 301lb and certainly better than the 330 I was at in 2009. So if like me, you face or faced what seems like a mountain, aim for setting up camp a bit of the way up. You may discover like I have that it's actually not such a long way to the top after all. You may even start to enjoy yourself

What a great approach. I look at the overall picture. I am most excited to go have my annual physical this year. It will be in June and hopefully I will be under 250 by then, something my doctor has not seen. If I lose enough I could dump my blood pressure pills. There are so many small places to stop and enjoy the "scenery"!!0

When you climb a mountain, you shouldn't think about climbing the entire mountain, but just think about getting over the next hill. When you've reached that summit, you start thinking about the next one and so forth, until you reach the top.0

I know exactly what you mean! Last weekend, I went shopping. I went to a couple of 'plus size' stores, where I normally (used to) shop - Lane Bryant and Avenue. The tops were all tents and I couldn't find anything that fit. Then I went into Old Navy. Old Navy! Regular size clothes!!! I bought jeans, capris and tops... all normal size clothes. It was the best feeling I've experience in a long time.
I've lost 54 lbs and am about halfway to my goal, so I'm not small yet. But I am smallER, healthier, more fit and happy!
Good for you - you should be so proud of yourself!!0
