It's really a personal preference. I always use unsalted myself.0

Unsalted. From my experience using the America's Test Kitchen cookbooks, they say to always assume, unless otherwise indicated, to use unsalted butter when a recipe calls for butter.0

Also if it's really important to the recipe it would say which one to use so since it doesn't I would just use what you have on hand.
