List of ways discussion forums are like small towns

1. Unless you founded the place, you're an outsider/noobie no matter how active or how long you've been there.

2. Everyone judges you by every silly thing you ever did or said, no matter how long ago it was.

3. fits in with 2, but "growing up" or learning is not allowed. You are always who you where when you were first judged.

4. Others will be here, but there's a relatively small number of people who are "in" and the collective direction is how "everyone" feels

5. New people come in with no respect for the current direction of the community.

6. Nothing you said is ever forgotten and arguments never have an ending.

    There's no real crimes, but Whiny Wilma and Nosy Neighbour Nelda call the authorities and the cops bust you for every little thing.

    You all sleep together from lack of variety, then someone new moves in and everyone runs off to hump their leg until the novelty wears off.

    One difference, When everyone knows everything about everyone else there is bound to be an elephant in the room. I am not so sure about an 800 lb gorilla

    Even though there's a few funky night owls wandering the streets in the wee hours, the sidewalks basically get rolled up from 10pm-6am.

    Wait, people argue in small towns? No, we all love one another deeply & respect each others diversity. ;)
