I need suggestions on running shoes. I run both on the treadmil and outside distance varies from 2 miles up to 6 miles. I am a mom who does not have 200 bucks to blow on shoes but I want something supportive and that will last. Thank you for your help and consideration. :)

I like new balance or nike.... What i look for is a lot of mesh and as little unbreathable material for my gym/outdoor shoes

Go to a shoe store (not a deparment store that sells everything) and ask the sales person to help you find some good running shoes in your price range. I actually went to a Nike store and was able to get some really good running shoes for $50.

For me, I love my Skechers (not Shape-Ups!). I think they are called D-Lites. I have used New Balance, Saucony, Reeboks and Nike. Personally, hands down the Skechers have lasted me the longest and are by far the most comfortable and seem best for my knees. I wont buy any other runner now and considering I cant buy them in the town I live in (nearest place to buy them in person is 4 hours away) that says a lot. But everyone is different.

New Balance. My step brother works at the store and it is the best type of shoes for running, walking. If you get coupons in the mail, sometimes they have coupons for a certain percentage off. Mine were about 100 (that is alot for me) but is the best money I spent. I was paralyzed over 3 years ago and I was wearing Reebok Easy tone shoes for over a year and they totally ruined my feet. Get New Balance and it is worth it!!

I've got a great pair of Asics that I absolutely adore (so much so that I bought an extra pair!)
They are very supportive, since I over-pronate. Call gel-evolution 6. I found my second pair on Amazon for under $100, but you can also find the previous version (gel-evolution 5) for even cheaper.

    Good luck!
  • I like my Asics. I have a pair for the gym\road running and a pair for trail running. I have been happy with the purchase. They are reasonable priced. I picked up last year's model trail runners for around $50.00.

I have friend who is track coach. He swears by Brooks.

Absolutely love my Asics GT-2160s ~ need stability and cushion, and this pair definitely delivers! They were $99 at Sports Authority, and I used a $25 cash card on them, so I feel like I got a good deal. Make sure you get the shoes that fit you the best or you'll be an unhappy camper. I like places that video tape your running and fit the shoe to you (then I go someplace cheaper lol).. Good luck, and happy running!!

I've tried a lot of different running sneakers and I have to say that so far..Asics are by far the best...you can get them for $50 or you can go up to $150. I've had a pair from price ranges and love them! so you don't have to go with the more expensive ones, look on Zappos or onlineshoes.com...they usually have great prices.

I always used Nike and liked them, but got a pair of Saucony and love those! They have some new ones out now that look even more light-weight and are under $100...

There is absolutely no way you can get any useful information on this forum about shoes that will be right for you. What works for one person could cause injury in another. There are many makes and different models. Go to a good running store where they will watch you run on a treadmill, possibly videotape your gait and make recommendations for you based on your gate, pronation patterns, your weight, average mileage etc. Expect to spend about $100. If you don't get the right shoe it will be money totally wasted. Your feet are worth the expense and time to get a shoe that is right for YOUR body and gait and you will avoid injury and avoid wasting dollars if you just take someones recommendation.

You really need to go to a sports shop and get them to check your foot/running/length/stride/balance for the appropriate running shoes for you! I would seriously think about doing this, I never buy my running shoes without gettibg my feet check....by the way this is free here in London...don't know if it's the same in the States. Good luck!

I recently went to Famous Footwear and tried on different brands of shoes at the same time. For example, I put on a Asics Shoe on my left foot and then a Nike shoe on my right foot. I walked around the store a bit and then took off whatever brand was not my favorite of the two. The Asics shoe beat everything EXCEPT the adidas Clima Cool. They are AMAZING. They run about 90 dollars.

I would definitely recommend going to a running store and get some professional help with your shoe choices. I just bought my second pair of Brooks today and love them :)
