I'm still in college so I don't have much money to go out and buy food for a diet. What would be the best way to diet on a budget?

  • You shouldn't be dieting.

Shop sales. Buy in season produce.. don't buy strawberries when they are $5 a container, buy whatever is in season. Stock up on things you use a lot of when they are on a good sale. Buy whatever meat is on sale and stock up if you can when it's a good sale.

I find I actually spend less now that we eat healthy and prepare all our food ourselves. I spent so much more eating processed foods.

You don't need special diet foods.

If you want inexpensive foods cook beans, lentils, and eggs. Also remember that frozen and canned fruits and vegetables have nutrition that is similar to fresh.
  • I agree with the comment on spending less now than I did when I ate more processed foods. Not only do I shop less, portions are smaller than before and meat, veggies, and fruit last longer because I'm eating healthy portions. Shop sales and stock up, sooner than you think you will have the variety you may be looking for.
