    Chewing gum helps me.
  • The thing is not to stop the snacking between meals it's to choose the right snacks between meals. College is the hardest to make the right choices at least it was for me. I mean you go to the dinning hall and there are 5 different lines of different foods, pizza and pasta all day. This site will help you but you have to be willing to do the work. Try taking fruits and veggies to snack on, even popcorn to tide you over to the next meal.

When you feel hungry, drink a glass of water. Plain water is hard for me, so I add a little lemon and it helps. Good luck with your weightloss! :)
  • I have to keep busy! If I sit idle and just watch TV or something I want to eat...and I will. My advice is get a hobby that keeps your mind occupied so that you don't want to stop it and head for the junk food!:flowerforyou:

P.S. As someone who works at a University may I recommend studying  . JK

I eat something. Just not crap.

    Have a handful of almonds
Keep a sandwich bag of popcorn around. (adding garlic powder is fantastic)
100 cal snack packs if you have to.

It all depends what you're eating, not the fact that you're eating.

Eating free food is my downfall as well. At home, it's easy enough to not buy it, but when you find it else where, that's another story. As a previous poster said, try for the healthier food, but I know in a college setting that's difficult as well.

In Canada we even have a term for the crap food that's all around. The "Freshman Fifteen." Every Freshman gains at least 15 pounds the first year.

Keep yourself busy and keep healthy snacks like vegetable sticks, fruit, small servings of nuts, etc. with you.
  • College was when I began gaining weight. I started to substitute carrot sticks, or celery, trail mix for the crap food. It is hard, trust me I've been there. I lived on a very small campus so there was not many dinner choices, and most of them were pasta of some sort. Pasta is not ness. that bad for you, but every night can add up.
