Lose 2lbs a week?

So I started my HIIT workout again tonight on the treadmill. I want to lose at LEAST 10 lbs by Christmas. That would be around 2 lbs per week. First, so you think that's safe? & Second: besides drinking water, low carbs, staying within my daily calorie goal, and eating lots of veggies and fruits...what do you recommend or suggest for me to accomplish this goal? Have anything to add that might help me achieve this 2 lb per week loss? Thanks so much!

You dont need to stay low carb, just eat a deficit of what you are burning, the only advice i can give is, salt can make you retain water, so watch out for that, if you have a lot of salt then drink more water.
It is possible to lose 2 lbs a week, but you might be better measuring yourself as you may find your scales done move one week, but that your have lost cms of your waist or legs etc.
I dont know what your cals or stats are, but if you post them then someone with more knowledge will be along to help you more accurately.0 -
Thanks for the advice. My daily calorie intake as far as mfp goes is 1200 to lose 2 lbs on lightly active level. I'm 5'3 CW 149, GW: 136.0

Hopefully someone will be along who can offer some real advice, but i know they would have asked for your stats Saves them time if they can see. I am sure you can do it, it might be a bit miserable with that few calories, but you probably have more will power than me lol! i am eating 1750 a day, i work out 5-7 times a week ( not every day but sometimes twice at weekends in the same day) and i am losing on average 2 pounds a week, obviously i have a lot more to lose than you, so it may come off me quicker and everyone is different.

I think 2lbs a week is overly optimistic and you risk losing too much lean muscle alongside your fat which in the long term is not good
reduce your target to 0.5 to 1lb, increase your deadline to none - eg take it slow and easy and just lose the weight
it doesn't matter what the scale says at Christmas.. if that's your target weight forever give yourself a chance of reaching and sticking to it - do it slowly and adjust your eating so you don't put it back on and more

You will probably lose very quickly in the beginning from water if you drop your calories, so if you lose 3-4 lbs in week 1, you may well average 2 lbs a week over the 5 weeks.0

have noticed so far that some ladies that have had results are eating porridge for breakfast, seems to fill me up for ages and is good for hair n skin0

If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal
You can aim for 2lb but its quite a lot considering what you have to lose. Still within safe levels though. I would weigh on a regular basis and use exercise to make sure I stayed on track. Its possible if you work hard enough at it, althopugh the closer you get to target the more stubborn the weight can be to move.0 -
I want to hopefully lose 2lbs a week but I'd be happy with just a pound because it's still a pound off my fat *kitten* lol0

As others have said, that is a short amount of time. The problem is that just water retention will play a big part of it. Boxers can lose 10lbs in a week just by dehydrating themselves. Also, 1200 is a bit low IMHO, it will cause some mental issues ( fatigue, irritability, problems concentrating) if you keep it at 1200 for 2 months. Not to be a downer, but better to shoot for 1500-1800 that is sustainable for the New Year.0

Definitely true. Oatmeal also. Soluble fiber is not digested, but traps sugars and carbohydrates and causes them to be released slowly over an extended period of time.0
