So you are a fussy eater. Hmmm. Well, fruits and veggies are of course high on the list. I myself like only a few veggies, so I eat a lot of the ones I like, peppers, cucumbers, carrotts. If you need to boost your calories for the day, peanut butter, apples, nuts. Lots of lean meats, fish. Avoid fatty foods. Pretty much eat right, lol. If you don't like veggies, do fruits. I know a lot of people don't like veggies. Stay away from processed foods and restaurant foods. That alone is huge. Basically, cook or make everything yourself. You can hit the recipe section for ideas. Hope this helps.

I'm gonna sound like your mom (sorry in advance) but...

unless you have allergies or a medical situation of some sort and that's why you are a "fussy" eater, use your desire to lose weight and get healthy as an opportunity to try some new foods :) Chicken and beef are good, maybe add some turkey or eggs or peanut butter or beans and rice for protein...raw vegetables as well as cooked (steamed)...bananas, apples, berries...um...you can get Van De Kamps frozen fish fillets that are breaded and don't taste "fishy" and they're only 90 calories a piece...

feel free to check out my diary for ideas...I usually eat a lot of vegetables.

    Good luck!

Potatoes are actually a starch- like a piece of bread.

As far as portions, a piece of meat should be the size of a deck of cards- that's about 3 oz.- one per meal. Starches at a meal should be about the size of a tennis ball- around a cup. Veggies are mostly "have as much as you want." Try some veggies that you don't think you like...you might be surprised! Try turkey burger- you may be very surprised at how good it is. I use it in place of hamburger in spaghetti sauce, tacos, chili and no one in my family has a clue.
An easy way to portion out your plate is to look at in 1/4's. 1/4 should be protein, 1/4 starch, 1/2 veggies. Now, if you have really big plates, don't fill it- refer to above portions.

As another poster said, stay away from processed foods- the sodium in these foods is extremely high and they just aren't very healthy.

there is a few other thing i eat like eggs and bits and pieces.
i am a stay at home mum so dont really sit down and have good meals.
i dont eat much in the day i just have a big dinner is thay bad?
  • that's really bad! you have to eat something throughout the day or your body will go into starvation mode...
when you DO eat your body will know it's not going to get any more food for a while and will kepp EVERYTHING you are eating!

If you munch ont hings throughout the day its better and I bet you won't want to eat so much at dinner.. even if it's like eating a few grapes

But you should really really try to eat throughout the day...I'm sure your kids eat, eat with them! make it a fun thing to do with them if they are old enough, like ask them to help you make lunch for yourself, just make sure that it's healthy and it will start them with healthy habits too :)

    Heya!

You dont have to eat fancy diet foods, the good thing about this website is you can eat what you usually do, but teaches you what portion sizes you should be eating. If you can try and eat at least 3 meals a day, rather then 1 big one that will help as well.

Here are some things I eat:

    Breakfast:
    - 2 Boiled Eggs & piece of toast (approx. 210 calories)
    - 2 pieces toast with marmite and slice of cheese - 25gr (approx. 220 calories)
    - 30gr Rolled Oats, 100ml Milk, 1 tsp Sugar sprinkled on top (160 calories)

    Lunch
    - 1 cup Cooked pasta with a small can flavoured Tuna (approx 200 calories)
    - Toasted Sandwich (200 - 300 calories depending on what you have on it)
    - Subway 6inch Turkey Sub, no cheese (250 calories)

    Dinner
Just whatever the rest of the family is eating, tonight we had devilled sausages, which arent the healthiest, but I just had 1 sausage and 1 cup mashed potatoes, and a good serving of peas and carrots. So my portion was much smaller then the hubbys, but still enough to satisfy.

    Snacks
I eat lots of apples this time year - fruit is a really good filler in between meals
    Airpopped popcorn
    Carrot sticks

Just a few things I can think of off the top of my head - but I think it is important to try eat throughout the day, and as long as you calculate out what the calories are for what you do eat and keep under your calorie count for the day, you should be sweet.

    Good luck! :flowerforyou:
