Intermittent fasting for asthma

Anyone have any experience or results using IF or alternate day calorie restriction for asthma? I am NOT looking at this for weight loss, but I have read about possible anti-inflammatory effects of IF or ADF. I would be very interested to see if this might help me, as my asthma has gotten progressively worse over the past few years. Thanks.

Do you have allergy induced asthma? That's the only way this would make sense in my head, but I ain't an expert. In to see your answers.

Yeah I would guess I have some allergies, although I have never been tested. My asthma used to be more severe at certain times of the year but nowadays it is bad all the time. And the inhalers I use are becoming less and less effective.

I advise you talk to your doctor about this.

If you google "intermittent fasting and asthma" there are many results.

I was hoping for some personal experiences/results here. Thanks though.

I've been doing ADF for 3 months and I don't have asthma, but I do have an arthritis-like joint pain (ankle) which I've had to start taking anti-inflammatories for. Never heard of IF for anti-inflammatory properties - perhaps it's more lung specific?

I started 5:2 18mths ago. My last to hay fever seasons (grass pollen allergy, May/June) have been quieter than they used to. I only rarely needed my allergy meds. Not sure if it's the fasting, but it is possible.

bumping for more input. Looking for anyone who has had positive results using IF for control of their asthma symptoms, or hypertension. Thanks.

if your asthma has gotten worse and your meds are ineffective you need to see your asthma nurse to re look at your meds!!!!

^^^^ this is your fisrt priority!!!!
while there ask her/him re allergies.

I have no idea if IF will help, but I do know that is your asthma is not under control yo could die, it only takes one bad attack and your gone.
Im not over reactting or being a drama queen, Im speaking as an asthmatic who was diagnosed over 26 years ago, have lost family and have friends who have lost family to it.
Please get an appointment and get your meds revised!!

^^thanks so much. I use a disc inhaler as well as an albuterol pump. My asthma isn't severe, it's just occurring more and more frequently, and the meds at best reduce 75% of my symptoms. So I was looking at IF as an assist to help me. I googled the topic and there is lots of information, I noticed that there are a lot of folks here who do IF for weight control. I was just hoping to find some who IF helped with their asthma. I will talk to my Dr. though. Thanks again!

this means it is not undercontrol and needs to be gotten back on top of asap before it gets even worse.

how long have you been on your preventer?? Its possible that it needs upping in dosage or even changing to a different one to get back on top of thing x
