Hi everyone!! I am going to have my measurements and body fat calculated tomorrow, I have been waiting to get this appointment for a very long time and now that it's here I am having a huge problem with water retention :-( I am retaining so much water it's not funny, my hands and feet are swollen, my hands so bad I can barely move my rings, and I am bloated. Does anyone have any tips on how I can try to get rid of some of this water before tomorrow morning? Thanks a bunch!!

Hi There! Don't panic. The extra water won't effect the body fat, just measurements.
Although it sounds counter-intuitive, drink plenty of water today. You want to flush it through and not have your body thinking it needs to horde it. And definitely watch your sodium intake. You probably had a bit too much the last couple days and it bloated you.
Stay moving today. If you sit too long it will sit too. It'll all flush through and you'll get back to normal.

lose the salt in your diet. drink lots of water between now and tomorrow to try and flush the sodium out of your body.

And lemon in water... natural diuretic!
  • I've always been told just to drink more water...I have a problem with water retention also.

I don't know what kind of scale they will be using to measure your body fat, but at my gym, they use a Tanita scale, and it also measures body water, so it's taken into account.

    good luck!

All good advice! Also, try to get in as much potassium as possible. Eat a couple of bananas and oranges, or even try a potassium supplement. Something about this counteracts the sodium. Good luck, and I would love to see how you do with ridding the retention. Please reply back and let us know! Best of luck and that is great that you are getting the measurements done. Wish I could do that as well.

To add to all of the above, get a good sweaty exercise in morning and evening. Always helps me.
