What's old is new again

So this is my second go round at trying the online fitness thing. My name is Tamela, but everyone calls me Tami. I am a 33 year old mother of three boys ages 6, 2 and 2. I realize now that the reason for my starting and stopping in the past was due to the fact that I was trying to recover from the birth of my 2 year old twins and get acclimated to caring for two babies at once, a very needy 4 year old (at the time), a husband (which is like having a 4th son!), a household and work fulltime. Needless to say my health was at the bottom of the totem pole. I struggled with osteitis pubis, failed physical therapy, endless amounts of pills, foot, fibula fractures and a not so sure diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis before I decided a couple of days ago enough was enough. If you don't know what osteitis pubis is, just imagine the pain a turkey would feel if he/she were alive to feel the pressure of his "wishbone" being snapped. That's just one of the nicer descriptions I came up with! At any rate....
I gained 65 pounds with the twins and am still carrying 50 of them. Big bellies are cute when they are full of life....not so cute after! I set a goal for 50lbs gone in 6 months. Here's hoping I can stick it out this time.

I just came back about a week ago, also my second time around. Like you, I put everyone before myself. I am scared to death of failing yet again. I was with my mom today while she was getting a minor medical procedure done. She is 62 years old, extremely overweight (could barely got up on the gurney), is diabetic and is waiting for a kidney transplant. As I was sitting there crabbing at her about her weight and her health and her eating habits, I saw a glimpse into my future. It is very easy for me to tell my mom what she should change, but I am not willing to make those changes for myself. Long story short, you are worth it and I am worth it. Perhaps the best gift we can give to our families is the gift of ourselves. I wish you the very best of luck and hear about less of you soon. :flowerforyou:0

Welcome cham, rk, and lib!! You have come to the right place for new starts!
Just that y'all are making this decision earlier in your life may fend off some of the future medical issues.
Think of this as a day to day thing...if you look at OH MAN 50 pounds!! fuget about it!
I set up mini goals, sometimes daily...toDAY I will eat 3 fruits and 3 veggies. Then I set the portions out for me to eat.
I have reached 25 pounds and there are ppl on here who have lost an entire person!
You can DO this!!!
One day at a time! Good luck to all 3 of you!!:flowerforyou:0 -
Thanks to everyone for their encouragement!0
