I am a liar and a thief!

On Day 2 of joining My Fitness Pal, I was invited to a family Thanksgiving dinner. I was prepared mentally to eat well, and healthy. I did fine until I went to the dessert table: 2 slices of cherry cheesecake, 5 pieces of homemade white chocolate pumpkin truffles!
When I entered my food consumption on My Fitness Pal, I saw that I had not only gone over my daily caloric consumption, I was also too high in carbs, sodium and cholesterol, and hardly had eaten any protein for the day. Until now, I never realized how I was robbing nutrients from my body by eating the wrong things. I lied to myself saying that it didn’t matter if I gorged on sweets; I didn’t gain extra weight from eating the sweets because I would fast the next day, further robbing myself of the nutrients from this day, as well.
My Fitness Pal, helped me realize that I could walk for one hour at a fast pace and burn up most of the extra calories, which I did!
Thank you, My Fitness Pal, for helping me to stop lying and stealing!

And that's why logging works. And really, a word of advice: trying to diet during holidays is not a good idea. At least, if your family is like mine and eats to celebrate! I tried, and it just made me miserable. So the next year, while I did watch what I ate, I didn't stress if I went over and just took an extra walk. I figured as long as I didn't gain anything that week, I'll be doing fine!0

I love MFP for the same reason! It really opened my eyes on the big picture. Keep going strong and best of luck to everyone going into the holiday season!!0

When I think back to how I was eating for the past 2 years, it's mind boggling. And I knew better! But logging on MFP really outs you if you go too far. Logging and meeting my goals gives me such motivation and control of my life. I feel so much more energetic because I'm getting the nutrients I need. I'm not hungry or craving anything. It gives me pause when I am faced with some calorie dense nothing of a food. The true test will be when I'm in maintenance (no time soon). That's where I have messed up before. I think logging in maintenance and weighing myself will really make me be successful this time. I know I let it get this far because I didn't have to SEE what I was doing. I ignored the tight clothes, the painful feet, the lethargy. I didn't get on the scale for more than 2 years. And when I did, it was 20lbs worse than I even thought it was. This is so hard and I don't want to put myself or my body through this again. No candy or junk food is worth this.
