Hi...I'm 54 years old...315lbs, 6'4"...and I'm sick of being a slug.
I'm in deep trouble...I have an 8 year old daughter who loves to hike, run jump and play...And I can't ....Bad knees.....No libido whatsoever...can't tie my shoes without feeling like I'm gonna die.....
This is where I'm at:
I'm done with my life as it is now, and am turning it around. I'd like some guy friends who are doing it, or have already done it.

I'm down 75 pounds and should hit my 100# target in the next 2 months.
You gotta learn your metabolism (it's slower than you think), don't rely on being able to exercise your way to being lean, and focus on eating better.
I cut the calories first, added longer and longer walks (low heart rate, no distance goals - but an hour every day). I eat a pound of vegetables for lunch and dinner (literally - sometimes more) - and protein with every meal, but never more than the length of my palm (about 4oz).
Once your body starts transitioning, you'll see increase in mood and energy. Of course, you'll need to buy interim clothes on eBay because you'll go through new sizes pretty quick. I went from a XXL to a L, and am wearing 38 jeans and on my way to 34/36 (with every size along the way).
It can be done. It is easy to do as long as you are dedicated every day. In other words, you have the control and power - nobody but you controls what you weigh.0 -

Well I started out 4 months ago at 365. I am currently 318 and dropping. My goal weight is around 185 so I'll be at it for awhile. I'm active and committed. F being fat. After 15 years of failed attempt after failed attempt this is it. I count my cals religiously and I walk at least 2 miles everyday (many days I get 4-5 miles in). And it is working, slowly but surely.
So my "success" so far can be summed up with:
1. Log like my life depends on it because it does.
2. Walk.
Feel free to add me if you want.0 -
I started at 330, currently 293, I am here every day, log my food and my exercise. I get to the gym 3/4 times a week and try to walk at least 5 miles a day on and off. I am normally successful.
I know how you feel. I just got to the point of thinking that I was not going to last much longer if I didnt do something about it. My wife and my kids deserve more, I deserve more.
We can do this. a step at a time, a day at a time, a calorie at a time, whatever it takes.
Feel free to add me. Welcome and good luck0 -
5'-9", started out at 317 and am down 55 pounds... Sill have about 60 to go. Feel free to add me.0

I started at 437lbs, Dropped 207 through a meal replaement diet and started walking. I rediscoverred my love for the gym and put on 70 which I have not taken off about 40+ pounds of that 70. I am working to get down to around 220 which would put me at 10% body fat (or less).
Currently I am tracking my food (faithfully) and working with a trainer 4 days a week to keep/build up my lean body mass.

Hello from England!
I've only been using MFP for a month and it's so simple, eat less calories than you need and you'll lose weight. I've dropped 18 lb so far and I feel great.
I've got about 47 lb left to shift, add me off you like.
Good luck :-))0 -
Good deal. Feel free to add me, as well.0

I started at 266lbs three weeks ago, not really lost much weight yet (almost 5lbs) and my goal is set to 175ish pounds. Although honestly once the fat caliper that I ordered arrives, I'll be tracking progress with bodyfat % instead.
Feel free to add me as I could use some friends0 -
I started at 312lbs (I am 6'3") wearing size 44 pants in January 2013. Lost 80 lbs by Nov 2013 and got down to size 36 pants. I currently weigh 240 lbs and have added some muscle over the last year. I would like to get to 225 lbs and less than 12% body fat (or lower).
Please add me as well.0
