This is my fist post! I started watching what I eat and working with a personal trainer 4 weeks ago, I have consistently lost 2 lbs a week since I started for a total of 8lbs. What got me started is my best friends wedding September 22nd which I am a brides maid in. My goal is to lose 2lbs a week until then hopefully loosing 40lbs by September 1st.
This weekend we went looking for bridesmaid dresses and we found a very cute dress. However I was not planning on ordering the dress yet as im not sure what size I will be. I wanted to wait till the absolute last minute I could to get sized for the dress.
Well I was backed in to a corner and convinced that we all had to order right now and together in order to get the dresses in and dyed the same color (they are black dresses pretty sure the sales lady just wanted the sale).
Needless to say she measured me and said I was right in between a size 20-22, I decided to order an 18. I really wanted to order a 16 but my best friend, my twin sister, and my best friend’s mom who I have known since I was 3 all discouraged me.
Comments that were made "I know you want to loose weight but lets bring it back to reality you can probably only loose 20lbs by then," and "Jami its not that we don’t think you cant loose weight we just want you to be realistic and not have a dress"
Obviously I got discouraged as none of them have seen how hard I have been working daily, going to the gym 7 days a week and working with the personal trainer 3 days a week. It just didnt seem to me that anyone thought I could do it. I only have paid for the personal trainer through the second week in July. Then I am either going to go it on my own or shell out more money.
I need some encouragement and advice as to if it is realistic for me to be down 40lbs by September? Any tips are greatly appreciated. Currently im eating a low carb meal plan with high protein.
Another issue I have is that I am an extremely picky eater and hate cooking meat!

I think it sounds like you've got a good plan going and I think could be possible to lose the 40 lbs in 4 months...but don't wedding dresses/bridesmaid dresses run REALLY small? Maybe the 18 will be perfect? I hope it works out for ya!0

It's impossible for us to tell you if it's a realistic goal. However, based on what you've said, you have proven that you can successfully lose 8-10 pounds a month... so.... that should help you make your decision about whether or not you can do it.
You've done AMAZINGLY well. You're obviously dedicated.
My suggestion since you've already ordered the dress.... work your hardest. When the time comes, with SUPREME CONFIDENCE and a little bit of attitude, have that dress taken in... save the receipt... wrap it up, and present it to the naysayers. With a smile, say, "well, since you didn't think I could do it and I believed you, I figured you might want to pick up the tab to have my dress taken in." And no matter what their response, sashay away with a smile.
Keep up the amazing work. I don't think your friends and family were trying to be hurtful, but they just didn't know any better. You will show them all.0 -
Use the negativity as a motivator!! ... they'll be eating their words when you have to have the dress taken in!!!!0

HI there, you are doing great, but it is better to get a size bigger and have it altered nearer the time than get something too small and have to starve to fit into it and be uncomfortable on the day and yes they do come up smaller!
My daughter had the same problem with her bridesmaids dresses, some of the girls wanted really small sizes and the lady in the shop advised my daughter to have them altered to fit? a much better idea. Her wedding is in July and she had to order them in January and they should be in the shop next week!
Just think how great you will feel when it gets nearer the time and you can show all those doubting thomas's how well you have done!!
Good luck on your journey!!!0 -
Well that must have been a bit of a downer for you but don't dwell on it. In a way they didn't want you to set yourself up for a fall, if you know what I mean. But I can't see why you wouldn't be able to lose that weight. Especially with all the gym work you'll be doing. Just imagine come September 1st and you've lost your weight and the bridesmaid dress is drowning you...you'll be able to say " I did try to tell you!"
As for personal trainer by mid July you definately wont need him. I'd save your money..you're going to need a new wardrobe!! Lol.
Feel free to add me if you want and good luck. You can do it!0 -
I LOVE what Mochamixaz says!! you show them for sure, you have already proven you can do it and it will happen, stay focused and stay positive!! whoo hooo0
