my net calories & foods that bloat. Quick Questions... :)

Hi Everyone!
I'm fairly new here, and am really, really enjoying this site! I am so motivated right now, and am at the point where I'm starting to feel so much better, and people are noticing my weight loss. I've had a plateau for the past few weeks, which I finally broke!
My question is... I'm a little confused by "net calories"... I am given 1480 calories each day, and I have my goal set to exercise 5 days per week for 60 minutes, which I do regularly. Should I be eating those extra calories I burn? My goal is to lose about 65-70 more pounds, but I know eating less is not always the best way to lose.weight.
Any advice would be great!
Also, I've found that although I drink 70-100oz of water a day, and eat very healthy, I am still very bloated and gassy. Are there certain foods I should avoid to help this? The one thing I can't cut out is broccoli. I absolutely love it
Thanks in advance for any tips!

Yes yes yes eat the exercise calories back! This is probably the most talked about topic on this site.
As far as gas goes, I have to admit that ever since I started MFP, I have had more gas than ever. I think it's just an unfortunate side effect of eating healthy. Broccoli is a big culprit, but I love it, too! You can try gas-x or beano pills before you eat to see if that helps. Good luck!0 -
Welcome to MFP!
Over the past 7 days, i had 4 days of not reaching 1200 net calories after working out, and i found out that it put the weight back on. So for the past couple days I was eating my required calories and low and behold the weight started dropping again (i put on 5 pds from last weekend, now its only 1pd from my last weigh in).
I love broccoli too, and yes I find i'm still very gassy. I agree with kappyblu, its just a part of eating healthy0 -
Thank you guys so much! I just read the post at the top for newbies too. I'm sorry I didn't do that before. Thanks for being so nice, even though I asked a question that has been asked zillions of times
I have been eating much less than I should have been! I'm very excited to do it the right way this week
Thanks again for your help!!!

Maybe my body is weird, I actually have much less bloating and gas pains, etc, when I eat healthy and when I'm at a lower weight. I agree though, Beano or Gas-X would be what I'd recommend!0
