how far out do you experience "period weight gain" (for the ladies)

I am 8-10 days out from TOM and I have already gained 2lbs. I don't know if it is too early to be TOM or something else? I haven't really been working out the last few weeks. I had my appendix removed and then i came down with pneumonia. Although I did lose all the surgery weight a few days after i got home. So this is new.
When does the "TOM weight gain" happen for you?

about a week before. i wouldn't worry about it. your body has been put through the ringer. Try not to focus on your weight but on recovering from all that you had going on.0

I have trouble losing anything the entire week before my period but don't usually gain as long as I'm sticking to plan, and I know there's a water gain (due to my face and hands swelling). If I were not sticking to plan I'd be gaining before my period, about three pounds or so at least based on past experience.
It all goes away on the second or third day of my period.
If you're less than two weeks into your cycle, it probably can't even be ovulation (unless you ovulate very early in your cycle or are having a fluke cycle), so personally, I wouldn't put this down to hormones.
People are probably going to be asking you to open up your food diary.0 -
Before I went on birth control, I would get a lot of sugar cravings about a week before my period and consequently, my appetite increased. I guess I would put on a pound or so? But all of my pms symptoms halted once my period actually came and whatever insignificant weight gain or bloat I'd experienced would go away. Your body will naturally readjust, wouldn't worry too much about it.0

I've never gained any weight (given a weekly check in) with my period, but I lose a bit slower the week before, and I notice that within days of starting, my weight will often drop by as much as 2-3 lbs. I always look forward to the first weigh in after a period, lol.0

I stay the same weight for ~10 days (a few days before, and ~3-4 days during). Then I lose 3-6 lbs in 2 days once it's over. MAGIC!0

In the past, probably the week or a few days before my period starts I would gain up to 5 pounds. It always went away when my period was over.
My period just started today but this time I was still down 1 pound on the scale 3 days before it started. I have been logging my food every day and exercising a bit every day and that is the only real difference.0 -
for me it's about 5 days before and 5 days after0

I gain 3# the week I'm ovulating. Takes around a week to get rid of it.0

I can gain about 2 pounds, then I can lose about 4 pounds couple of days once it's finished,I do get really bloated though.0

I only weigh once a week and I notice it the week of if I notice it at all. I think my biggest gain was like 2 pounds.
If you haven't noticed it before, I would attribute it more to your surgery/sickness and your body recovering. I would give it a little bit before getting too worked up. Our bodies are amazing, but they do need time to recover!0 -
I usually see at 2 pound gain a week to 10 days prior, then as soon as I start its gone.0

I noticed I gain slightly or don't lose weight around the time I ovulate. Goes away by the time my period comes and have no issues around my period.0
-
I don't weight but every few months, but my pants get tight for about 3 days before. then back to normal0
-
Honestly, it begins about halfway through the cycle, gets a lot worse the few days before and then all disappears in a few days.0

2-3 weeks here! I hit my lowest one week after my period, then gain progressively until my next period... then I start losing again on the 4th or 5th day (typically it involves a dreadful day when I'm pretty much stuck to the restroom all day. It sucks).0
-
Few days before then takes about a week to come off. Which is fine except my bodys gone mental and am having TOM twice a month atm so im fighting a losing battle most of the time0
-
I use to gain 10 lbs. a few days before. I use to have to spend the rest of the month losing it. Now I don't gain at all. Must be my diet.0
-
I personally wouldn't worry too much, because my weight fluctuates anywhere between 3-6 pounds daily, and the fluctuations don't increase/decrease with my periods. I don't notice increased water retention during my period either.0

Few days before (up to a week) to a few days after ...sometimes
But Mother Nature likes to screw with my head with all things TOM apart from when I'm due on0 -
For me, I don't actually gain anything before my period, but I don't lose more than 1lb in the 2 weeks before, and last month I lost nothing at all. Then when it ends I typically drop 3-5lbs.0

I was just going to post about this. Weighed last week 138, weighed today 140. Well it's about a week until TOM for me so that would explain it. I try to workout 5-6 days a week too. Heck, a few weeks ago, I was 143, then after TOM went to 138. Question is....do you log it? Stupid TOM! hehehehehe0

For most of this weight loss process I didn't experience any significant weight *gain* related to my period, but losses would always stall about 4 days before and not drop back until day 3-ish. However as I've gotten close to my goal, like within the last 3-4 months or so I have noticed the daily fluctuations are a lot greater near my time of month, I will waffle up and down in a 2-3 pound range for the entire week before it's due and not get back down to "pre-period weight" until it's fully over. FWIW I also have a 2-3 day gain of a couple of pounds around ovulation time, coupled with an increased craving for sweets (carbs in general, really, but sweet ones specifically).0

For me usually about a week before, and I can gain as much as 6 lbs (which is really noticeable on someone who is 5' 3" with a small frame!)
Also my waist measurement can increase by up to 2 inches, and it usually stays put for at least several days, it sucks!0 -
I get two good weigh-ins a month. I try not to let it bother me, for the most part it's not weight gain but zero loss. Sometimes there's a pound or two increase. I have a *kitten* scale so if I so much as lean a little too much it changes my weight by a couple pounds!0
-
Usually, I don't see an gain the week before. The week of, the scale will fluctuate between 3 and 5 pounds, and then the week after, I'm usually down a pound or two from the weeks prior. I typically don't even get on the scale the week of.0

Whenever I'm bleeding, I'm heavier and it's harder to lose. I have irregular bleeding and no real cycle, so other than that I don't notice.0
-
I have a spike ~ CD 10 (which always goes above my trendline), and then another ~7 days before my period (which doesn't usually hit the trendline). They both last a couple of days.0
-
My weight goes up right when it starts, and then takes a few days to go back down. I do not lose during that week.
I also gain when I ovulate...so there's like two weeks out of the month for me to get an idea of my weight. How fun.0
