Going to the movies Carb Free

Going to a 3-hour movie tonight, the 1st time since I started watching/limiting carbs. I can't think of anything at the movie theater concession stand that I would get. Gonna be tough not to sit with a big tub of popcorn and a soda for a 3hour flick. Guess I will munch on Laughing Cow and celery before I leave and have a bottle of water. Wish me luck!

Had something come up so I didn't get to eat dinner until later than expected, so no snack necessary. Bottle of water carried me through 3 hours.

    Good job :)

I sneak in a container of chopped up celery, cucumber and sprouts and a sparkling mineral water usually.

You must be very talented, to keep celery quiet in a movie theater.

No one else is quiet with their crunchy nacho chips, why should she worry about being quiet with celery?

I was going to say that there's no need to have a snack during a 3 hour movie.. I never eat snacks in the movie theater anymore (used to have cookie dough bites when I was younger) except maybe an Icee. To each his own, though.

For next time, you can always get diet soda... it has zero calories and zero carbs. Some movie theaters sell dill pickles at concessions - also no carbs.

Glad to hear you made it through :)

I budget cals for popcorn and I'll order a Coke zero if I'm actually going to the movies. However, since you're low carbing it, for next time I would suggest sneaking in some beef jerky or string cheese if you want a snack.

I brought an apple into the theater once. They're not as quiet as I thought.

Just cuz everyone else is doing it, doesn't make it right! :)

I had this problem too. Other than bottled Dasani (Dasani is gross) there was absolutely *nothing* I could eat from the concession stand (I don't do soda, diet or otherwise). So I brought my own homemade chicken jerky, pork rinds, and sparkling lemon water.

My feeling is this: With the rediculous mark-up on popcorn the movie theater could afford to offer alternative dietary options. Especially now when they're fairly mainstream. They choose not to - so I bring my own. Is that so wrong?

Sounds like you did pretty well!

I went to a movie last week. I thought it would be hard to pass up the concession stand because I love popcorn but I really didn't miss the drink or popcorn at all. After the movie, I was hungry but I went and ate a regular meal. I didn't pass out or start chewing on the seats because I didn't have a snack during the movie.
Sometimes things aren't as difficult as we think they are going to be.

I don't got to a movie very often, so when I do, I make sure I allow for popcorn. The theater we go to, you can put on your own toppings and popcorn without anything on it is high in fiber and low in calories.
