Eat back exercise calories?

Hi everyone! I just started using MFP and I am looking to lose 15 pounds. My question is - if I aim for say 1400 calories and then burn 400 running, should I eat 1800 calories or stick to 1400? Thanks

Depends on what you have your activity level set to. If you have it set to "sedentary", add those calories from working out back in.0

What does your eating goal say?
You accepted the perhaps MFP recommended 1400 calories when you do no exercise, perhaps without understanding where that number came from.
So why not accept the higher recommendation when you burn more with exercise, even if you still don't understand how it works?
Meet your eating goals, adjust after a month based on results.0 -
Yes, eat back your exercise calories, or at least eat most, like 50%+. You need to fuel your body.0

So even if you have a "highly active" activity setting for your lifestyle/job (at the other end of the spectrum from sedentary) that still isn't allowing for additional exercise burns.
OP - to back up Heybales, you have selected a calorie counting tool so suggest you try using it as the tool was designed. If your results don't work out as expected then adjust your calorie allowance accordingly. Actual results are a far, far better guide than any estimate.
