"...The Food and Drug Administration announced sweeping rules on Tuesday that will require chain restaurants, movie theaters and pizza parlors across the country to post calorie counts on their menus...even popcorn. Health experts said the new requirements would help combat the country’s obesity epidemic by showing Americans just how many calories lurk in their favorite foods..."

This makes me a very VERY happy panda. I turn down eating at places just because I have no clue how much I'm eating, then to have an entire week RUINED after all the hard work I put in D:

Not to mention, they don't get my business just because I have no idea how much I'm really eating!

    Bravo!!!

It really is a win. Although it only applies to chsins and not privately owned establishments. I'm hoping even the private ones would start too just because. I definitely would if I sold food.

I like the ideal of seeing calories for what I am eating, BUT I doubt it will stop the obesity issues in this country.

I must admit, I have no idea how many calories I have consumed the last two days. I also have no idea how many more I will consume tomorrow and the next day.. So, starting a video workout diary in order to ATTEMPT to keep on track, but oh my gosh, all the foods... Must have.

I'll be checking the FDA site to see if they plan on requiring it any further than what's announced anytime soon. I really think people should educate themselves about calories.

I agree with it likely not stopping obesity, but it really does allow freedom of choice like never before. I would venture to guess there's some sort of regulatory leeway as to accuracy of the counts, but I would just round up by 100 calories if it was something I was even remotely leery about. I'm sure they'd post the lowest possible version to make things look better.
