I need help and encouragement on this road to success. I've been to so many weight loss programs and lost weight, gained weight, lost weight,etc...... I am a stress eater and need to know if anyone else out there can share some tips. I might add that I am over 60 and enjoy walking but can't bring myself to get motivated enough to get going...

Hi Nancy, I'm Karen and I've been counting my calories for about two weeks now. I am closing in on 50 in a few years and something in me just said it's now or never. I am a stress eater and a boredom eater and it's not easy to change those patterns. I'm still getting used to logging in what I ate and how much I exercise, so it hasn't become a habit yet. Everyday is a struggle for me to not reach for something sweet or high in fat.
One thing that has really helped me is drinking a lot of water, about 80 to 100 ounces a day. That may seem like a lot, but it helps keep me full and I eat less. If you don't like plain water, add a water enhancer like Mio or Crystal Light. To me the flavored water is like a treat and it still has zero calories.
Could you get some of your friends to walk with you? It's more motivating if you have someone to talk to, and before you know it, the walk is done and you've had a great conversation also.

Geneen Roth has good books about mindfulness.

Also youtube has many breathing videos that help reduce stress and connect with the body.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJ-5YzBZdrI
