Do you think that wearing heels helps you with your core? (in a kind of Pilates way)

no, you should hold good posture regardless if your footwear.

Heels do give me a much better wiggle though

Hahahaha.....no, I don't think so.... Strength training (body weight and otherwise) will help with core strength. I've got a few dozen pairs of heels, and none of them helped to make me stronger.. As a matter of fact, they don't even see much daylight anymore, compared to the gym shoes...lol.
BUT I agree with the previous poster about that 'wiggle'.... :)

I don't care whether it helps with my core - if I wear heels, sooner or later I will end up with a broken neck!

I don't notice the core so much as my butt is always contracted and my legs from top to bottom are contracted and working much harder! :)
  • No, but they do tend to help you "hold" your core in but will not improve it.

Surely da wiggle increases your calorie burn
  • Wearing high heels contracts the muscles in your calves, which make your legs look great for awhile, but will negatively affect your muscle mass over time.

High heels do all kinds of terrible things to our bones, muscles, posture, feet and health.

On the other hand, I'm 5'1" and I will continue to wear 'em anyway, 'cause I love the extra few inches of height! I do stash them at the office and change when I get here, so I'm mostly commuting in flats, mind you.

I never noticed them helping my "core", but they did do unpleasant things to my feet.

The podiatrist even said, "You ladies do this to yourselves!" He's not wrong, lol. We do.

I've reached the age of more sensible shoes. :)

I think the inventor of high heels must have been a man... who wanted to punish women.

I'm pretty sure it was invented by a woman... to strengthen her core.

Heels were invented by Persian horsemen because their feet kept slipping out when they rode. Then that billionaire (almost trillionaire) Italian banking Medici family from the 1500's had one of their kids wear high heels at a wedding then every girl in the world decided to wear them.

So warriors first wore them, then billionaires, now you.
