Starting "lifting" and weights on the road

Hi,

I'm currently travelling (yay) and not really exercising much. I am, however, interested in weight-lifting for fat burn and strengthening. I don't know what to do because I'm travelling and really can't bring "weights" with me. I will be near a gym for a few months next year but I won't speak the language so I'm a bit worried about starting to lift because I can't ask for help and I don't want to do it wrong in case someone starts talking to me! :persevere:

Any suggestions?

  • what about trying those resistance bands? They are like jump ropes so they are light and easy to pack.

Get a TRX for when you're traveling, do the weight training when you're @ home.

Well, those two pretty much covered it. The only other thing I can think of is bodyweight exercises (which TRX is, actually, it is just a better way of changing the leverage)

I have resistance bands! I don't really use them, but do you think they'll be enough? :)

I use You Are Your Own Gym on my tablet for bodyweight work, although most of the time I go out and run.

Body weight training along with resistance bands. You can get a complete Biceps/Triceps/Shoulders workout with the bands. A little more difficult to get a good Back/Chest workout with bands unless you have something sturdy to use as an anchor. Bodyweight works great for Chest/Legs workouts.

cool, thanks everyone! I'm just a beginner anyhow so I guess for now bodyweight is fine, I have some small dumbbells but not really sure how much I could do with the barbell anyway haha! I think when I move to a more permanent apartment I'll try and get a kettlebell and some heavier weights and then put them in storage when I start moving around again :)
