I got a b12 shot today. Does anyone get these with help for weight loss? Does it benefit at all?

Yes! I take them every month. They have helped with weightloss, mood, and I have so much more energy. I hope it works for you. Goodluck.

Do you get them from your doctor?

I saw somewhere (not sure where) that you can buy b12 capsules to take everyday. Will those work as well as getting a shot?

Didn't your doctor discuss the benefits with you before you let them shoot you up with B12?

Yes, you can take over the counter B-12 and get the results you are looking for. Make sure that you eat something with them or soon after.

B12 is a vitamin that when taken orally requires a protein called "Intrinsic Factor" in order to be absorbed in the small intestine. So, if you getting shots because you have B12 mal-absorbtion (which is usually caused by intrinsic factor deficiency) YOU CAN NOT GET THE SAME EFFECT FROM ORAL SUPPLEMENTS! There is some potential to absorb under the tongue (sublingual) but standards have not been estab;ished and monitoring is still required

B12 deficiency is serious. If you remain deficient you can have nerve and central nervous system damage and a form or anemia. Talk to your doctor before accepting any advise that says you can get the same thing from over the counter oral supplements.

B12 shots are helpful. I take sublingual B12 for fatigue. My doctor said that studies have shown, if you take 1 sublingual B12 (1000mcg) everyday, it is equivalent to taking a shot once/week. Sublingual is better than capsules because of the way it is broken down in the gut.

This thread reminded me that I'm due for my shot. I take it for the energy boost plus I am slightly anemic. The doctor told me to take them because I had a busy job. I have since switched jobs but still take them occassionally.

Yes he did, but its nice to hear from others who actually see results with the shot. Something that I could stop paying for if it wasn't worth it.

The ones I take are sublingual but are 2500 mcg
