Now, i am confused. Calorie counting during phys (P90x3) as i have been concerned mapmyfitness with a mio is counting hr fine but high on calories. Ran both mapmyfitness and polar rcx5 for cal count tonight both reporting same av hr. Have the following readings:
Mapmyfitness 448 cals for 33mins
polar hrm 228 cals for 33 mins
Web counter using age, kg, time and av hr reported 347........
who to believe?

Anyone with experience?

Pick one and go with the method for 4-6 weeks. If you aren't losing, then either choose a different method with a lesser calorie count, or just manually take off 50-100 calories off the burn and do that for 4-6 weeks. Continue to adjust as needed.

    Agreed.

using the lower reading is never a bad option, as you'll be estimating more conservatively.

Thanks, I will track the Polar HRM calories and see how that goes. I am loosing so not too bothered but want to be accurate where possible and Mapmyfitness just seemed much too high.

    Both, Thanks for the advice.
  • Is there a Web based calorie burn counter for p90x3 that you can recommend.

    Thnx

I have the RCX5 and I always go with that reading eventhough it is in 99% of the times the lower reading and I would love to take the higher ones from the machines or websites.

First of all Polar has invented the HR monitors and is at the forefront of heart rate monitoring and secondly as the RCX5 is able to calculate your VO2 Max (should you have done the fitness test that the watch offers) the results are much more accurate than the ones from other devices.

Finally, for your weightloss progress it is safer to go with the lower number.
