Tone It Up Nutrition Plan

Hey everyone!

I recently signed up for the Tone It Up Nutrition Plan...I was wondering if anyone else on here follows it and if so what do you do in terms of meals and exercises. I guess I'm still lost when it comes to the plan and was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers! Thank you!

Feel free to add me also! :-)

Hey! I am glad I found this post. I actually downloaded the plan over a year ago and just never used it. I whipped it out recently after I joined My Fitness Pal and decided to try to follow it as closely as I can. I too am a little perplexed by it, especially when it comes to portion sizes for each meal.

Since I am also a MFP member, I think what I am going to do is try to follow the meal aspect of the plan and make the actual recipes for a few weeks, plugging each item into MFP. That way I can make sure I don't go over my calories per day with my multiple small meals. Since I'll be following the recipes they provide I know my portion sizes will be okay because each recipe is only for 1-2 servings.

After a few weeks I should have a good handle on what the portion sizes should be and a few go-to recipes under my belt. For TIU, the goal isn't so much calorie counting but I am at this weight for a reason, and I think I need to make sure I know not just portion sizes but calorie content of the foods as well.

Before I start following their exercise program, I need to focus on getting the food part down. I can't have to think too much about what to do for exercise, so while I am focusing on the food aspect, I will just be starting 30 Day Shred on October 9th and do the food plan for 30 days. After 30 days I'll reassess.

I have a girlfriend who has been following TIU for a year now and she mostly just follows the rules and does the challenges (for example, right now they are doing the frisky fall challenge). Don't focus so much on all the erroneous details and rules until you get the main ones down: no starches after 3 pm except for quinoa (which isn't really a starch), and OCCASIONALLY starchy veggies after 3 pm. LEAN CLEAN AND GREEN is a good way to plan most of your meals. she said for lunch and dinner she makes sure 3/4 of her plate is green/veggies, and the 1/4 is a lean protein. for the other meals, she said just start making some of the recipes they recommend and you'll figure out quickly which things you like. The tone it up community usually posts their meals throughout the day so you can get a lot of good ideas that way too.

we should make a group, I am sure there are plenty of other people on my fitness pal trying to follow the tone it up plan, however loosely. what do you think?
  • I've been looking at this recently too. For $150 I'm just wondering what the plan actually consists of. Is it lots of recipes? Do you think it's worth the $$? I've scoured their website/blog to see if they have a sample of what it actually looks like but haven't been able to find one. I'd love any additional feedback that you might have? I just need something to help me come up with some good, health meals ... I'm just struggling figuring out what to eat and would embrace a plan to follow but I don't want to pay $150 and it just be sorta cheesy, kwim? :) Anyway, thanks for any info you can provide.

I've heard some people are dissapointed with TIU, mostly because of the cost. Do you recommend it?
  • no I don't recommend it. I know this is old but I bought it and don't like it. Wish I didn't. Those girls are nothing but advertisers and money makers. so disappointing. :(
