I wear gloves... my hands tend to get very sweaty without them.

no gloves, but gel-covered weights are really slippery.
  • Gloves you don't get other people's sweat on your hands.

I started using gloves on dead lifts once I got to 305lbs, my hands were getting ripped open too much and my gym doesn't allow chalk

No gloves. I used to use them years ago but eventually found that they interfered with proper bar position in my hands.

I like feeling the weight in my hands, same basic reason I don't use the bartex pads when I squat. I always figured that gloves were going to reduce my grip strength anyway. Then I watched my coach DL 515 without an issue, with gloves. I was like... damn... guess they don't suck.

Thanks all! Tomorrow will be first time I try free weights. I bought gloves, but noticed nobody wore them in the bodybuilding videos I've watched.

No gloves; you can't feel the weight as well with them. Plus, I like calluses.

I didn't when i was lifting, but i certainly wanted them. Spending 3 hours in the gym per day, my hands got very sore and blistered.

Gloves. My hands get sweaty. I found a pair of thin "girly" ones from Target, not really good for heavy lifting since I still have hard-earned calluses, but they allow me to have a good non-sweaty grip.

Gloves simply to avoid calluses. Not very good to tear up someone's back giving massages with callused hands. Also, I have big hands and dumbells don't have the width I need to get a good grip without them.
