Hi
I want to cut the remaining fat on my precious muscles (female, 5 ft 7, 148 pounds), but am confused how much should I eat. The scooby said I need 2500 for maintainance (oh this would be nice!) so around 2000 for cutting. IIFYM- 2195 maintain, 1866 cutting as a starting point of course. Before I used this calculators I couldnt stick to a diet 1600 calories, because I was SO DAMN hungry that I just overate every time. I guess 1600 is too low for me or I just lack willpower, which is not very probable due to the fact that I eat 100% clean 100% of the time : paleo as a base with some brown rice or buckwheat here and there. I never eat anything else, I just dont need to. But the problem is... I cant stick to a cutting number 1500-1600 seems so low for me...
I exercise 5 times a week: 3 times lifting heavy weights (around 45 min.) plus 5 times moderate cardio (treadmil, some DVD like Bob Harper, I aim for 60 min. or at least 500-600 calories burned).
Could you please help me with setting the numbers? Thanks!

Pick a number! ANY Number - and TRY IT!! It is not an exact science, so NO ONE and NO CALCULATOR can give you an answer. Doesn't help you but its's the truth. That said - when people come from a CUT to Maintenance, or Bulk, the tried and tested way to 'Reverse Diet" is add 200 calories a day for 2-3 weeks (so in your case, bump to 1800) monitor body fat, weight etc. and revise depending on what you see . . . .
PS - Love your profile . . . .0 -
Okay... I guess I will stick with the 1850 at first (IIFYM)...

They're both really similar for me. It's odd that your numbers would be so different. Anyway, just pick one, then adjust from there in a month.0

IIFYM calculates quite a bit too low for me, about 200 lower and it's definitely not accurate for me. But generally speaking, I always advise using the higher number so that you can more easily lower your caloric intake to meet your desired weight loss rate. I feel like this can help understand one's TDEE a bit better as well.

Pretty much. Pick a number and assess how you respond to that level of calories after a little bit of time.
Personally, I'd start on the high side as I want my calories as how as possible while I start to cut. If you can't pick a number, try the average between the two sites.

There are differences depending on which research model you use. I think IIFYM uses Mifflin-St. Jeor. I don't know if anyone has compared the models for accuracy. If they did, that would probably just create another model.0
