I feel like i've "started anew" a billion times. And obviously since i keep starting over that indicates i've never really done all that well. I HAD been doing well about 18 months ago, feeling fit and eating better. I was put on Zoloft and over the course of about 8 months gained 15-20 pounds. Now I feel terrible AND anxious. So i'm tapering off and just trying to do small goals. Ultimately I want to lose about 40 pounds, but right now i'm trying to just focus on getting rid of the zoloft from my system and getting motivation again to workout. (Zoloft also zapped any of that as well). Small changes hopefully leading to bigger changes, and ultimately results.
If anyone has a zoloft story i'd love to hear it! The makers still say it isn't likely to cause weight gain but i've read literally hundreds of stories online about people who say differently. I wasn't eating fantastic or anything and i'd get why i wouldn't LOSE weight but i have never weighed so much in my life (aside from being pregnant) or ever gained weight like that in such a short amount of time when ultimately my habits never changed.
Thanks!

Yes! I was at 100mg and went to 50mg for a week then off. I have read that some taper far slower but this seems to be working for me.

I've learned that looking and feeling good takes a lifetime commitment. I hate working out and would much rather have some wine and a meal full of carbs. Your too pretty and young to not conquer this. Life goes by quickly and you don't want to waste it. Add me if you like.0

Glad it wasn't just me! (well...you know what i mean. Sorry you have to deal with it too!) My doc kept saying that it wasn't the zoloft. I know it has a lower instance of weight gain but it certainly didn't HELP in any way. I had stayed relatively the same weight for years, got pregnant, dropped the weight and once i hit that number it stuck again. FOR YEARS. Then with no change in habits plus zoloft I gained 15 pounds in 6 months. Ugh!
Let's help each other out yeah?0 -
Are you feeling the initial issue that led to you being prescribed that medicine has gone away? Do you feel like you have a plan of attack outside of it to make it better? Its definitely relevant to weight loss whether it be from the meds (very likely) or the yo yo coming from not being in a level, peaceful place in your life that will set you up for long term success, most likely a combo of the two. I took it, many years ago. As well as alot of other synthetic chemicals that a host of doctors claimed would make me better. None of it worked. Pfizer is probably the only one who benefited from any of it. Many had extremely negative side effects. I could write a book on, and am very passionate about, the subject. I have had alot of success over the past few years, but it came from within, from learning to be present, meditation, having goals, a five year plan that goes alot deeper than reaching a certain number on a scale, massage therapy etc. I don't know your story but my advice would be that you should find a support system of people who have been in your situation and come out on the other side better. Not via the use of drugs (many of which alter your brain chemistry permanently) or labeling yourself as broken in some way. Unless ofcourse you are seriously suicidal or thinking of joining the Taliban or hear voices in your head that are telling you to shoot up a school or truly believe you are God or something. I do understand these meds have their place in society. But if you are like a lot of women I know, who are struggling with things like where you are in life right now as opposed to where you think you should be, dealing with some past traumas or a little post partum etc, leaving you feeling depressed and anxious..I would try a different route to finding your inner happy kid and be careful allowing anyone to label you. A fancy piece of paper, reading a few books on the subject and heavy student loan debt does not true understanding make! Love and light to you! I hope you have great success on your journey regardless of how you go about it. It gets better!0

Wow, thank you so much. You bring up some excellent points! I am feeling much better. I've been off it about a month and feel better than I did on it. I feel more like myself. I hope I can continue on that route. Definitely not about to join the Taliban or anything so I think we are safe there0
